One crazy awesome shotgun. Powerful, highly recommend. Very smooth transaction buds made this. Great staff, and would no doubt order from them again. Wheather it be another gun or just ammo.

First of all, this is a great shotgun. I have put at least 3 boxes of "00 buck" through it flawlessly. Now, the only issue I was not prepared for was that the 18.5" barrel that comes standard on this shotgun is the only size barrel made for this model. "Regular" 870 barrels have the barrel ring mounted closer to the receiver end of the barrel than the 18.5" barrel is. This is because these shotguns have longer magazine tubes and the ring is mounted further to the end of the 18.5" barrel to give support to the barrel/magazine. If you are buying this shotgun to use the 18.5" barrel only, no problem. I like the idea of a home defense/hunting shotgun and want to add barrels of longer length. I have recently purchased a sleeve that allows you to mount a "regular" 870 barrel. This sleeve is not easily found unless you know where to look. The one I found is made by Remington and I purchased it from Midwest Gun Works. The sleeve was $25 and without it, a "regular" 870 barrel will not fit. One other thing, the shotgun does not come with a plug for the magazine and to hunt where I live you may only have 3 rounds in the shotgun while hunting. This I will easily fix with dowel rod cut to the proper length and placed in the magazine from the barrel end of the magazine.

Just a bit of back story. I'm a mossberg fan. I've always owned mossberg shotguns and I've always had good luck with them. Well I got rid of my last mossberg 500 and have regretted it ever since. So I finally decided to pick up another shotgun, and I decided to give this remington 870 a chance. I was a little scared since it didn't have any product reviews but I went ahead and bought it anyway, and I'm so glad I did. I love this gun. Everything about it is better than a mossberg. I've put a whole box of some target load/bird shot through it, plus a few slugs and it has preformed flawless. It handles recoil great, and is such a joy to shoot and buds did a fantastic job of getting this gun to me in TWO DAYS! The mesa tactical adapter is really good quality paired with the Magpul CTR sliding stock, you can't go wrong. The only slight downside about it is the handguard. It feels rather small and cheap in my hands. I have since ordered a magpul MOE handguard for it and will be switching it out very soon. Also, one more note for someone who is new to the 870. They do not come with pre-tapped holes on the top of the receiver for mounting a rail like mossbergs do. You either have to do it yourself or find a gunsmith that's willing to do it for you. Mesa tactical and TacStar do make a rail system that mounts around the receiver using the pins down next to the trigger on the side of the receiver.
