I bought this awhile ago put I noticed it's a 18.5 barrel thinking it had the smaller barrel would I be able to put a stock on this and still be legal.

Altha, the 590S with 18.5 inch barrel is considered a shotgun, unlike the versions with 14" barrel, which are a completely different category of 'firearm'. The 'S' models will accept 1 3/4" mini shells without the use of an adapter. Since this has a 18.5" barrel, it also has a longer tube magazine and will hold more shells than the standard Shockwave with 14" barrel. Other than those things, they are all basically the same.
