Walther WMP Optic Ready 22 Magnum / 22 WMR Pistol

It seems that Walther has finally cracked the code for a reliable semi auto 22 mag pistol. This fine piece of German engineering reliably cycles all 22 mag ammo I have fed it. 30 grain, 35 grain, 40 grain, 45 grain, ballistic tip, hollow point, soft point, fmj, it eats them all. Over 500 rounds total through mine with not a single malfunction. The secret to this ability is the HK style fluted chamber that aids in extraction. The trigger while technically a single action, hammer fired, appears to be mimic that of the striker fired mechanism that your expect on a modern polymer pistol. About a 1/4" of take up l, followed by a rolling break. It's not a 1911 quality trigger but it's in line with most striker fired polymer pistols. Definitely very useable. I mounted a Vortex Venom 3 moa red dot using one of the included optics plates. I can hold about a 2-3 inch group at 25 yards standing, unsupported. I haven't tested it from a bench yet. Recoil is light as expected but the blast and muzzle flash is quite impressive. This is a large pistol all around. If I had just one complaint, it would be that its just a touch large for my hands. I sincerely hope Walther introduces a compact or an F series variant down the road if they can maintain the excellent reliability as it would make a fine defensive firearm for those that cannot handle the recoil or lack the hand strength to manipulate the slide on a centerfire pistol.
