The M&P 5.7 is a very high quality handgun. It is very accurate and has very low recoil. It's also suppressor ready. The only drawback is the cost of 5.7x28 ammo. The service from Buds was good as always.

Good gun and material y confortable

I always wanted to try a 5.7 pistol. The issues were 1. pistol prices and 2. ammo prices. Finally, US companies are trying to fill the demand. My choice was the SW M&P5.7 because the price was reasonable and it was made in the US. So far I've fire 200 rounds of 40 grain FMJ through it, the cheapest ammo I could find. Remembering its $.50 a pop /-. The pistol felt great in my medium sized hands. The grip surface is of medium rough texture and not overly aggressive. It's light since its polymer, aluminum and steel. The barrel thread protector has thread lock (its like a gray paste) on it from the factory, so it's not going to simply twist off. It will take a 9/16" US wrench (see the manual) which worked fine. Iron sights were set fine. At 25 yards iron sight with my old eyes I'd say 1/2"-1" groups. The pistol functioned without issue, no jambs, misfeeds or stove pipes. I'd equate the recoil to that of a 22WMR, not much. All mags function perfectly. I am happy with this purchase. You have to shop around for cheap 5.7 ammo. Until these pistols pick up in popularity the cost may stay high, though it has come down some in the last year from my look back analysis. Of note is once you break the thread lock from the factory on the thread protector to clean it , and reinstall it, mine wanted to spin off when you fire it again. That end gets pretty hot. In other words it will not stay on with a simple hand tightening. I put a drop of "blue" thread lock on it, but in hind sight I should have used teflon tape or PTFE tape, it has higher heat resistance, but the blue thread lock worked fine. Doesn't need much just a touch. If your looking for 5.7, I'd recommend this over the other brands for price, looks and function. I'm guessing future iterations of this M&P5.7 by SW. I could think of a few mods I'd make, but for me the "as is" is an excellent pistol. Price and performance. It will not be a daily carry for me. More a range target pistol and possibly into the field on a pig hunt or two once I get a red dot mounted up.
