Advanced Technology Deluxe Heatshield w/Ghost Ring Sights

Easy to mount, works as advertised. Nice look as well.

Not that great..was not happy with this product.

I was somewhat disappointed with this product. It doesn’t fit snugly or align straight along the barrel of my Maverick 88. It actually has a good deal of twist from front to back that moves, making the plastic sights ineffective. Basically, the sights are just eyeballed for placement and subject to moving out of position while handling the shotgun during use. The heatshield is designed so it only secures to the barrel near the muzzle, but not at the receiver end. I used various tools to try to clamp down the heatshield and reduce the diameter of the rear where it flares out so that it would fit more snugly to the barrel, but with only limited success. I was hoping the sights would be an improvement to the single brass bead but they are pretty wonky. The price of the heatshield is very cheap but I would be willing to pay more for something that fits more securely to the barrel and offers an improvement to the stock sight, but I just couldn’t find any other product to fit the bill. It’s really kind of pointless to try to dial in the sights if they are just going to move around. Disregarding the sights and the less than insecure fitting, the heatshield does what it is supposed to do. It does make it easier to handle the shotgun when the barrel heats up.

This seems like an OK product. I just installed it on a norinco hawk 870 clone. Have not had chance to test yet. The good: It's metal (mostly) black looks pretty cool from a distance The bad: It's kinda flimsy, the very plastic sights are poorly mounted, and non-adjustable AND it really doesn't matter because the back of the shield just kinda floats, it have little tabs to keep it on the barrel, but it's not stable enough to be a base for a sight. OK value for the price, quick shipping from Uncle Bud.

The heat shield gave a nice look to my firearm. I installed it on a shotgun slug barrel with a scope mount. I had to notch the end of shield to fit around my scope base, which wasn't to bad of a issue. I think that ATI could make a heat shield to accomadate rifled shotgun barrels with scopes. Overall I was very pleased with the looks it gave my firearm.
