Stellar shotgun. I was hesitant to purchase as I've always owned Remington shotguns prior and wasn't too familiar with the Winchester line of boom sticks. I was pleasantly surprised by the performance and simplicity of the SXP line! Highly recommended for home defense!

Beauty is only skin deep. Winchester states this shotgun has an inertia assisted slide action that one can fire off three shots in just mere seconds. Winchester also boasts on their website that this shotgun has a tough and good looking finish that lends this gun to tossing it with one's other gear into your truck and heading off the grid. Careful with that!
This is no slam on Bud's. Their service has been excellent in the several transactions I have had with them.
That stated, I am disappointed in Winchester for the sales hype on the Turkish made shotgun that did not pass any real quality checks the day it was made. I realize the price point puts this gun at the lower end of the sales spectrum but my wife bought me a RIA Turkish made single shot back packer shotgun for Christmas last year for $99 that is of better quality than this Winchester.
If you purchase this Winchester SXP Dark Earth Defender, be sure to examine it closely before you take it home or look at it in person in the shop. I only gave my example a quick look at the gun in the box at the receiving dealer as I purchased this SXP online from Bud's. Unwrapped and assembled at home I could not get the shotgun to release the "inertial bolt". I began at this point to really examine the shotgun and noticed that the "tough and good looking finish" appeared to be thin in some spots and heavy and over sprayed around the ejection port. Point of fact, the finish has the appearance of a "rattle-can" paint job.
Since I could not open the action, I read the manual as I always do. I found this to be an eye opener. The Winchester manual on the SXP warns to be very careful of the finish as it is not a hard coating, is not tough and durable; the finish is easily damaged by cleaning solvents and rough handling. The manual also stated that disassembly of the action and complete cleaning is required for proper function.
I took the action down and cleaned out all kinds of gunk and preservative; lubricated the action as outlined in the manual and was able to get the action to work. After getting the SXP cleaned and being extra careful to pad my work surface with a clean soft towel and got no solvent on the exterior of the action, I still fount two spots of the paint on the top of the action had flaked off the gun.
I can rack the action but there is no free movement as seen is some videos. This is a stiff action. The action only moves freely when the trigger group is out of the receiver for cleaning. A guess on my part is the trigger group holes are not punched in the receiver parallel to one another.
Caveat Emptor. I have handled some nice Turkish weapons. This particular shotgun is not one of them. You may have a different experience.

Very nice shotgun at a great price. Buds is good but way to slow to ship, most of my orders take over a week to ship, way too long.

Love the finish and color. Does really well with slugs out to 100 meters or buckshot up close.

A:Yes. I’ve used mini shells on all 9 of my shotguns and they worked. I have to Winchester shotguns and they worked, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t.See 3 more answers | -

A:Ben, the Butler Creek Shotgun Plug fits most 12, 16 and 20 gauge pump and automatic shotguns chambered for 2-1/2", 2-3/4" or 3" shells. It can be cut to the desired length to limit the magazine capacity to two rounds. The durable plastic will not collect moisture and possibly rust your gun like wooden plugs. https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/714001114/BTLR+CRK+SHOTGUN+PLUG+12%2F20+2.75%2F3See 3 more answers | -
