Ruger SP101 Stainless 327 Federal Magnum Revolver - 6 Rounds | 4.2" Barrel | Wood Grips | Stainless/Silver | 3-Dot Sights

Buds shipped in a timely fashion as usual. This firearm was defective from the factory with over pressure issues (flat primers) and the trigger/hammer/pawl assembly was binding and in some cases the trigger was not resetting after firing and resulted in cocking the hammer in S.A. and the hammer falling to firing pin but transfer bar did keep it from firing. Also sometimes it was difficult to cock in S.A. and the cylinder sometimes was binding when released and had to use more force to open it and close it, which was not heat related or cartridge related since it would do it with or without shell casings or live rounds in the chambers and with the revolver cold. Also one of the chambers must have been out of tolerance because could not eject shells due to the case in that chamber was stuck and had to push it out with cleaning rod. Spent casings from the other 5 chambers would not insert all the way in to this problem chamber which tells me it is out of tolerance. Sent back to factory and they "adjusted the pawl and replaced the cylinder" and shipped back. It seems at this point the trigger/hammer issue has been fixed but I still had spent casings and one chamber will not accept a spent casing. Sooo, they either did not replace the cylinder or all the cylinders they have on hand are out of spec on the one chamber. I am displeased to say the least and at this point will not buy RUGER products again.

I have longed for a gun in this caliber since the 327 Federal magnum was initiated as a cartridge. I am excited that Ruger has been making these and that I finally acquired one. I am a wheel gun enthuist and a reloader. The finish and fit on this gun is exceptional and the fact that it can shoot 4 different cartridges give a reloader several rabbit holes to pursue. Due to Washington State law, I'll not receive the revolver until Aug 15. I'll write a review once I've had an opportunity to work with it and fire it.

This is my first purchase Ruger double action pistol . Love the looks and the feel, like others say it’s a touch on the heavy side but still carry’s very easily, Even with a four inch barrel it carries nicely tucked hidden under the belt. This small frame carries 6 327 federal mags which is very potent from testing we have done, currently using light loads and 32 H&R for fun. Very accurate in single action and does well practicing double action. Handles great. The action and trigger was a little stiff and gritty but after a spring kit and slight polishing, it became a smooth running action. Love this sp101.

Nice little mid-size that packs punch without punching back. typical Ruger quality with a break-in period of about 100 rounds. Nice finish and six shot capacity instead of the larger caliber (357) holding five on the same frame. Very handy size with adequate punch.

I own an older SP101 in .357 and it’s been a constant friend, but it’s getting a retune to be a trail gun. I’ve had pitiful luck with semiautomatics over the last few years (I’ve managed to break 4 different guns) so I decided to pick up another heavily armored SP101. I’ve owned my original revolver since 2016 so I was expecting something similar. I learned to shoot with that gun so I’ve learned to use it proficiently. Still, I had something in mind but this .327 blew me away (figuratively)! Pictures can’t do justice to the polish and fluting throughout the gun. It’s a beautiful and simple firearm; a gorgeous specimen of what a small framed revolver should be. Pictures simply do not do it justice.

Sp101 327 federal magnum is a super nice revolver. Made like a tank and will shoot the 327 federal magnum, 32 s&w long. H&R 32 magnum and the 32 acp. The 4.2” barrel is accurate and recoil is mild. Be careful if your wife shoots this revolver because then you will need to order one for yourself. Great firearm!

bought this for my wife for self defense great fit for her small hands and easy dependable to use. She still doesn’t like firearms but she practices enough to be lethal if necessary. Great workmanship and I love the wood inserts in the rubber grips! Flawless accuracy and love the sights. Beautiful gun I think revolvers and lever action rifles are the pin-up gals of the gun world! As always Buds was flawless also.

Purchased this Ruger SP 101 in .327 Federal Magnum with the 4.2 inch barrel approximately 2 weeks ago. I finely got a chance to break it in yesterday target shooting with two friends in the desert outside of Tucson Az. We also had a Ruger Security six in .357 Magnum and a Taurus Judge in.45 Colt. We fired approximately 75 rounds through each of the handguns. I was very pleased with the SP it’s recoil was less than the.357 but more than the .45 colt. I found the action to be tight in both single and double action. This loosened up considerably after 50-60 rounds and better yet after cleaning the revolver and dry firing it numerous times. I found the Sp to be quite accurate with the American Eagle 85 grain ammo putting 5 of 6 rounds inside a 4 inch circle at 25 yards near the end of our session. I was impressed with the power of the ammunition and am eager to try the 100 grain American Eagle ammo. I think this will make a wonderful trail gun. The size and weight are perfect though I will likely spring for the Hogue grips as I find the standard ones a bit small for my hand. All in all, a fine, well made, handgun.

A nice carry gun, the inside frame machine work was very rough and had to be polished. Very accurate.
