What is the difference between the Ruger LCP and LCPII?

Hi Michael and welcome. The LCP II has better ergonomics, better trigger, better sights and easier racking slide. LCP magazines will work in the LCP II but will not lock the slide back on last shot so stick with the LCP II Magazines on the LCP II. Cheers and stay safe!

The first improvement is the re-designed, texture grip frame which provides you with a secure and comfortable grip with a larger grip surface to provide the shooter with better distribution of recoil forces, meaning less felt recoil. The new, easy-to-rack slide design means that the gun is an option to more shooters. Is it left or right hand?

Hi Pedro, The magazine release button for the LCP II is reversible for operation by the thumb or forefinger of either hand, so it is ok for right or left handed shooters. There is no thumb safety, so that won't come into play. The only strictly right handed control is the slide stop. This is not a deal breaker for many, it's individual preference. Pedro, as others have mentioned this can be used by left or right handed shooters. The magazine release is reversible. The slide stops on the left side only for right handed shooters but with little practice can be used by left handed shooters. Hope this helps.

This is a righthand pistol with an ambidextrous magazine release.

Doug, The LCP 6 round mag will work in an LCPII, but will not allow lockback on the last round. The LCP 7 round mag will NOT work in an LCP II... You need a Ruger LCP II 7rd mag for it to work, not an original LCP 7 rounder. Have a great day!

Lane, no Sir. As long as you use a quality holster or pocket holster that covers the trigger and common sense, you're perfectly safe carrying with one in the chamber. Eric, no, it does not. There is no magazine disconnect safety so a chambered round can be fired by its lonesome if need be.

This is advertised as having Single Action, yet after watching the video its operation doesn't look any different than how a DA works. Could someone please explain how this is different from a DA and why a SA is an advantage in a CCW ? Thank You !

The Ruger LCP II is the Best-In-Class Lightweight Compact Pistol. At just 5.17" long and 3.71" tall, the LCP II is designed to fit a variety of holsters and provide concealed carry options. It has a short, crisp trigger pull with a single action feel. The fixed front and rear sights are integral to the slide, while the hammer is recessed within the slide. Safety features include bladed trigger safety; neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring tension; and hammer catch to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled.
