Sig Sauer M400 Elite w/Red Dot .223REM/5.56NATO

This Sig is awesome. The Romeo5 was preinstalled and when I took it to the range it was shooting low and left about 6" at 50 yards. After some work adjusting the dot. I could shoot 1" groups in the center of the target at 50 yards. Great set-up. Love this AR. GM

I'm pretty impressed with this rifle. This is my first AR15, but not my first Sig. I opted for the Sig because of my familiarity with the brand and my positive impressions with their handguns. The M400 Elite is what I expected in terms of quality, with one small exception that I'll mention later. It feels good to hold, the furniture is good-quality Magpul stuff (with Sig branding), it's relatively lightweight and it's functioned flawlessly with close to 1,000 rounds combined between 223 Rem, 5.56 NATO and even 22LR (with the CMMG conversion). It's incredibly accurate and the trigger feels good enough for me, although if you're a "trigger snob" I'm sure there's room to improve. The handguard can get a bit warm with repeated, successive firing, but it's totally tolerable. The included Romeo5 red dot sight is excellent as well. It's crystal-clear and very easy to see through. The dot is nice and bright even in full sun (and adjustable for brightness). My only complaint is that my sight was not tight on the rail from the factory. I didn't realize this until I had taken a 45-minute drive to the range and realized after a few rounds that my sight was wobbling all over the place. I failed to bring the small included Torx tool to tighten it back down, so that quickly ended my range trip. I ended up putting some thread-lock compound on the screw just to be safe. Since then the dot stays at zero and no more wobbling. Overall, it's a fantastic rifle that I'll get a lot of use out of, I just wish the sight was tightened up right out of the box. For the price I also would have liked to gotten it in something other than a cardboard box, but a nice hardshell case won't set me back too much.
