This revolver is a beauty to shoot. It also brings memories from my childhood. Sturdy construction and for beginners a 38 special bullet is the best (almost no recoil). Contrary to the 357 round which is amazing to shoot.

First off the whole buying experience with Bud’s was excellent. From the online ordering to in-store pick up everything went very well. The actual revolver itself is why I give this three stars. Having this gun for about a month and shooting maybe 500 rounds, I had to send it in for warranty work already. Almost right out of the box, the extractor rod was loose and had to be hand tightened several times. What this did, I think, was affect the timing where the cylinder would seize occasionally, especially in single action mode. I tried hand tightening it several times, but you really need a special tool, and the torque needs to be precise to line up the extractor rod and the extractor star on the other side of the cylinder. This is where I feel Smith & Wesson could’ve done better. I did look online for the proper tool, and although there are a couple out there, I didn’t feel comfortable doing this myself. This is a very delicate/precision mechanism, and I didn’t wanna make it worse or impact safety in anyway. So I sent it off for warranty work, the Smith & Wesson customer service was fantastic about explaining to me the process, they paid for express shipping via FedEx and said warranty work is running about 6 to 8 weeks right now. It’s better to be safe than sorry, but it seems like this could’ve been easily rectified before even leaving the Smith & Wesson factory.

This is my favorite.357 magnum. First i cleaned it then to the range. It shot perfectly from the very start. A little front heavy but it’s a 6” barrel so I’m happy. I didn’t get it for concealed carry! I like those 7 shots!

The S&W 686+ Deluxe is a mighty fine piece! Purchased around 2024 and ran over 1,000 rounds of old +P+ .38 (it’s a thing) through the revolver, plus a hundred .357 mag rounds. The fit and finish are excellent! The feel and aesthetic are amazing! The revolver is hefty and durable with a somewhat stiff and gritty trigger that smooths out wonderfully between 500-1,000 rounds. I would buy it again and probably will. The 686’s competition, the Colt Python, is a wonderful gun at nearly twice the price. Its fit is tighter. The trigger is smoother but the trigger serrations will eat your finger. The finish is nicer but the grips are sub par to the S&W 686 + Deluxe. Any day of the week I’d buy the S&W 686+ Deluxe over the Colt Python! I do own both.

Revolver arrived with the sticker that's supposed to be on the foam of the box on the cylinder. Cylinder sticks, one chamber is smaller. Gun needs to go back to S&W.

Beautiful revolver. Smith and Wesson's are just a classic revolver. Wood grips are very nice. I wanted a 686 and decided to get this model. I am glad I purchased it.

Smith&wesson revolvers, the 686 Plus Deluxe 6" 357 mag is of wonderful fit, finish is not as good as the Colt Stainless Revolvers, but the weight and build are as good as any. The sweet wood grips make this Revolver complete. Buds the one place to shop. Thank you.
