This is my second M&P, which says a lot. My original was a 40 cal, and I decided to remove the 40 caliber from my arsenal and stick primarily with 9mm and 45. The second I got rid of it, I was missing it, and realized I should have purchased the 9mm before selling my 40 caliber so I didn\'t have to go without shooting this fantastic firearm. Ergonomics are superb, and the grip angle is far superior to the Glock, in my opinion. That shouldn\'t come as a surprise to most people, since the M&P grip angle was modeled after the legendary 1911, which I am deeply fond of.

The somewhat odd looking slide serrations are nothing short of remarkable for getting a good grip on the slide, which came as a surprise to me the first time I manipulated the slide. They just don\'t look like they\'d have much grab to them, but they really do. The indent on either side of the slide helps with manipulation as well, and gives the gun a pretty cool look as well. The grip texture is VERY aggressive, and will really grab on you, which is a good thing. However, it is pronounced enough that it could definitely rub you raw on prolonged shooting sessions. Sights are decent, but not spectacular by any means. And the trigger--which was atrocious in the first gen pistols--is improved by a massive margin. I wouldn\'t say it is as good as the Walther PPQ, which I and many others consider the pinnacle of off the shelf excellence for a trigger. Nor is it quite as good as the HK VP9--but it\'s close, and it positively outclasses the Glock trigger in every way. I\'m not a trigger snob like many shooters, who instantly runs out and spends 200-300 dollars on an aftermarket trigger, which is mostly a waste of money.

Now for the \"negatives\", which are few and far between, and for good reason. The M&P is just an excellent platform, and S&W did a great job of improving the first gen pistols and really knocked it out of the park with their second iteration. But there are a couple of small things I\'d improve, if I was able to. First is the trigger. But wait--didn\'t I just say it was good? Yes I did--and it is. But I mean the actual trigger itself. I prefer a flatter or completely flat trigger. This was is a little too curved for my tastes, and can sometimes feel awkward to me. Second, the trigger guard. I\'m a VERY big fan of using the trigger guard with my support hand, wrapping my finger around it for some extra leverage. On a gun like this, with such a mild recoil impulse (far better than Glock), you can really dominate that barrel and knock the movement down to just about nothing. The problem I have with the trigger guard is that it isn\'t flat; it\'s sloped. Don\'t get me wrong, it is still better than a rounded guard, which I hate, but I\'d like it to be more of a straight up and down so I could really utilize it for some leverage.

My last complaint is somewhat minor and most people won\'t care much about it--truth be told neither do I, but I\'ll mention it anyway. A higher end gun should come in more than just a cardboard box. Even more confusing is that my 40 caliber M&P did come with a hard case, but for some reason this one just comes in a box. Now I usually get a custom cut foam box for all of my pistols anyway, because I like to be able to carry my pistol and five spare magazines all in the same case, and most factory cases don\'t allow you to do that anyway, so the first thing I did was purchase an aftermarket case that met my specs.

In short, you can\'t go wrong with this gun. If you\'re a fan of striker guns and want something besides the boring and over rated Glock, you\'ll be pleased with this platform. Aftermarket accessories abound, so you\'ll have a wide variety of options for holsters or custom parts for the gun. One thing I did was immediately replace some of the stock parts with aftermarket parts from Ed Brown\'s fantastic \"Fueled\" pistol design, which uses the M&P platform. I replaced the striker, extractor, pins and a couple of other items. I run a stock barrel, but I may replace it with an Ed Brown down the line if I continue to use it for both competition and daily carry, but let me be very clear in saying that the out of the box accuracy for this pistol is superior to any other striker gun I\'ve owned, with the possible exception of the Sig P320 X5.

A great shooting weapon that looks as well as it shoots. It feels balanced in my hand. Easy to aim with the sights. Good experience with ordering online with Buds. I have continued to use Buds as my \"go to\" arms dealer. I always look there first

Purchase process was seamless. Shipping was quick and update info was passed along as I expected. The pistol comes with the grip inserts so I was able to easily change the grip to my liking. The slide's release is stiff, so prepare for a bit of a struggle getting used to that. Take down of the pistol is super easy. The only knock was that the pistol, the grips, and the 2nd magazine came in the S&W cardboard box, not a hard case, but ultimately I don't care. Very pleased with Bud's and S&W on this gun purchase.

I love this Gun! I took it to the range for the first time today, fits my hand like it was made for it. Put the medium large back stap on, perfect. The texture on the grip is awesome, this gun is not moving in your hand. Shoots like a dream, trigger is pretty nice, a little creep, but nothing that's a big deal. I love how this gun shoots, feels, and even looks. 200 rounds without the slightest hiccup right out of the box. Definitely think this is my new favorite striker fired gun, and my new EVC.
Bud's was great, arrived at the shop with in a few days, hassle free.

Love the gun but was very disappointed I did not receive a plastic case with the gun. I seen a lot of people opening them on YouTube and read a few places that this gun came with a plastic case and not cardboard one. Buds is a great place to order from though.

Arrived early despite high consumer volume. Very happy with the affordable price on the gun I wanted. Process was easy. Wish confirmation of FOID was a little quicker but understandable based on volume. The quick shipping definitely made up for it.

I received my new S&W M&P M2.0 9mm.25 17 1. I do like the fire arm and it does fit my hand like a glove but, I was very , very disappointed that the firearm came in a cardboard box and not a hard case. For the money it should have been a hard case

Ever since I bought my Sub 2k that accept M&P mags, I’ve been looking to get this handgun. I can’t believe I got it for $403! I’ve put 50 rounds through with (1) FTF due to and aftermarket magazine, and this thing is STIFF from the factory! It looks great, feels great, and shoots great. Another great purchase from Buds!

Out of the box. Very easy to field-strip; and gave it a cleaning/oil. Then to the range, where she went through 85 rounds (mostly Blazer Brass FMJ, some Hornaday Critical Defence) without a hitch. Nice point-and-shoot, good groupings even though this was my first time firing this model. Great balance, low recoil and ability to get it back on target quickly. The 4 interchangeable palmswell backstraps are a great way to get the best fit for you hand. And as always (even in these days of increased business), Bud's service and shipping was super fast.

Steve, this is a Striker Fired pistol and you can't de-cock it unless you drop the magazine, rack the round out of the chamber and pull the trigger. Same process as a Glock. Cheers and you and yours stay safe!

Ryan, unfortunately no- you would need to find a version that is already compliant in its factory configuration. This is directly from Buds' restrictions list "We will not ship firearms to a third party to be modified or changed in any way from manufactured specifications. The firearm you purchase must be compliant AS IS from the manufacturer before we will ship." The rest of that document is here: https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/feeds/state_reg/california_restrictions.pdf All that being said, I believe this model should be compliant although it looks like it is currently priced higher but does have a rebate going right now: https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/59403/s%26w+m%26p9+m20+semi+auto+handgun+9mm+luger+425%5c%22+barrel+10+ro

you are correct the only difference is that 11524 has a manual safety the price difference is because Buds uses a Computer program to set prices it looks a inventory both at Buds and at the distributor along with other factors here is what buds has to say about pricing "Our website updates every 20 minutes, 24/7, with our current inventory and replacement cost. We do not price our guns manually based on our cost in each, rather we use a live download from manufacturers and distributors to set our price based on our current replacement cost. As our cost changes, the corresponding website price of each make/model will change up/down accordingly. Although our profit margin remains unchanged, our advertised prices will change frequently, sometimes several times per day"

Both are great platforms David. Depending on your intended use, either will be an excellent sidearm. I would write down the 10 most important aspects you want in a pistol and check off down the line of each. Whichever gets you closer to 10, that's you pistol. If they tie, you are then justified in getting both my man.
