I really wanted to like this rifle, but the accuracy just wasn't there. A very pretty rifle with nice walnut and solidly built. I have always liked single shot rifles so when these came out I bought this and a .45/70. Neither one showed good accuracy so I traded them both in. Sorry Henry, but this gets a thumbs down from me.

I have had my Henry Single shot 44 mag out to the range two times now. Really easy to shoot and quick to sight in. It is well balanced, has an effective recoil pad and the wood on the rifle looks terrific! The trigger pull is just under 4 lbs and is very crisp!! Excellent trigger! The bluing on the steel is very nice too. If I have one complaint, it is that the finish on the receiver looks very cheap. It has the appearance and texture of pot metal. And the new/improved trigger guard looks even cheaper. It has casting/mould marks on it. I'm sure that the the metal is fine all the way around. But this is my first Henry and all I have heard about, and seen from them, have been excellent workmanship. The receiver finish looks so much different than the rest of the metal on this rifle. I am a bit disappointed in that. Was thinking of getting another in a different caliber, when I first ordered this one. But I am really put off at the cheap appearance of the receiver and trigger guard.

The Henry 44 magnum single shot rifle I ordered from Bud’s is a really high quality piece. The American walnut fore-end and stock are beautiful and the checkering is flawless. Now Henry Repeating Arms has issued a recall on all single shot rifles and shotguns manufactured prior to 07/01/2020. They claim that while testing a trigger upgrade the hammer on one weapon only failed to hold and slipped causing the weapon to discharge . This is a voluntary recall and if you take advantage of it you also get a free trigger upgrade. So, I submitted the form on Henry’s website and requested the free shipping box so I could send my rifle prepaid both ways to get upgraded. It has been 7 day so far and other than them acknowledging my request I have not received a box or any other communications. I checked my rifle out and it functioned properly. I took it to the range and it was a blast to shoot. The heavy trigger pull and sharp break did not effect accuracy at all. 2 inch groups open, sight at 50 yards out of the box, and I am by no means a marksman. I fired a total of 50 rounds this time and couldn’t be happier.. I might not even send it back for the recall as it may take many months to get it back. I really love this basic and very beautiful rifle. As usual It is a pleasure doing business with Buds Gun Shop.

Great looking gun very nice wood. Blued finish was flawless. No shipping damage at all. Fast service from buds! Trigger pull on mine is about six pounds, better than a lot of these but still high. But easily corrected if I want to. It’s all good. You will like it. Mine was in .44 mag.

Great rifle/gun. Very accurate right out of the box. I have put about 100 rounds through it without any issues. Nice finish ready to hunt or use at the range. Looking for an affordable rifle the Henry is your friend.

This Henry is a beautiful, well made rifle. As a bowhunter, the single shot, short range, does not bother me a bit. The rifle is compact and balanced. The trigger pull is crisp. When needed, it will help keep my freezer stocked. And the price is right. Thanks Buds.

This is my first Henry rifle and the quality and fitness of this single shot rifle are as good as coming from a custom gunsmith. The walnut is superb with fine grain and color expected to be found only a #5 fancy grade. Don't know if I drew the lucky straw, but from other reviews it appears to be normal Henry quality in select wood. The fit and finish are perfect. This is a fun accurate little rifle to shoot. For the price of this rifle it is one of the best bargains to be found. Growing up my father had a single shot martini action rifle that was rebarreled to shot .357 magnum. We had great fun shooting, plinking, hunting with that rifle. This reminds me of those days. If you are looking for a handy single shot rifle to fill a niche this is the one to have. This will not just sit in gun safe taking up space. Thanks to Bud's for your spot on quick dependable service and quality products.
