This was my first purchase through Buds Gun Shop. The price was fair and they made the process really easy.
The Henry Big Boy is a really nice gun. Sort of a reimaged version of an 1860's era rifle, but not specific to any historical design. The brass receiver and quality of the wood stock is excellent. It is a might heavy for its size at 8.8lbs, due in large part to the full length octagonal barrel. The lack of a loading gate, makes loading the tub magazine a bit slow and cumbersome. But it is true to the early Henry designs.
It shoots .38 special with virtually no kick at all. It shoots .357M with a noticeable thunk, but very manageable. You can shoot a couple boxes of ammo without a sore shoulder. The action is a bit stiff compared to my Uberti made Winchester 1873 and Rossi made Winchester 1892 models (also chambered in 38/357). If you are getting your first lever gun, I strongly recommend a model with a side loading gate. They are easier to load, and frankly a bit safer since you never have to put your hand in front of the end of the barrel during loading. But if you collect rifles, the Henry Big Boy is a fine addition.

The Henry BB .357/.38 is great shooter. It is well made, has nice bluing, and fantastic furniture. I was perfect out of the box and performs flawlessly in both .357/.38. 100% made in the USA, what's not to like.

1: Made in AMERICA or not made at all
2: I am from Bayonne, N.J. and happy Henry has one of its plants there
This is my second Henry. I love it. It is smooth and easy to operate. The quality in my opinion exceeds the cost of the rifle. The lever action is
reminder of all the western movies I have seen. For a reliable easy to operate and moderately priced rifle you cannot beat a Henry.

Henry lever action rifles have always been the best. Smooth action, great trigger, looks great with the brass receiver and butt plate, easy to disassemble and clean. I have the Golden Boy .22 mag and its accurate as can be. I have the Big Boy 45 Colt and has the same accuracy as the .22 mag. I also have the Big Boy .357mag/.38spc and the same holds true for accuracy. All 3 rifles hold about 1.75" groups at 75 yds using Skinner Peep Sights on the rear that are adjustable and Skinner taller front sights This .357mag/38spc is turning out to be quite the rifle and will perform well is any application you choose.
