• Q: What are the differences in the Hunter and Competition How about the accuracy between the two.

  Main differences will be the grips, sights, and barrel profile. Hunter has a fluted barrel, larger grip with finger grooves, and a V-notch rear sight with fiber optic front sight. The competition model has a slab side barrel, flat wood grips, and a square notch rear sight and black square front sight. As far as accuracy difference, they are nearly identical and have the same barrel length, so it really depends on your preference in sights and grip handling. There is a great deal of aftermarket support for these guns such as accurizing kits, upgraded triggers, and different sights. Were I in your place I would pick the model that you think will be the closest to your best fit from the factory as far as sights and make any changes you see fit in the future with upgraded parts.

• Q: The Ruger Mark IV Hunter comes with a red fiber optic front sight. Do I need to add a rail and third party red dot sight? Will it improve my accuracy?

  I tried the red dot on my Ruger MK III and I shot worse with it. I kept chasing the dot instead of just shooting. I suggest shooting it as it comes for a while then if you are not happy or just want to try a red dot you can always get one then

• Q: Is this gun DA/SA or is this a typographical error? Ruger’s website reads single action and doesn’t mention anything about double action.

• Q: I noticed some of the MKIV pistols do not state Single/Double action, instead, they state automatic as action. Are there really two types of actions? If there are two actions can someone explain the difference and benefits of each?
  I am also torn between the MKIV and the CZ75 kit adapror. I already own a CZ sp01 tactical which I rarely shoot partly due to 9mm ammo cost. I can't afford both. Can anyone with experience with both state pros and cons, will mainly be used as a range gun.

  A:

  Vincent the Mark IV's including the Hunter are "Single Action" pistols. This Single/Double designation only shows up in Buds description and not other vendors for the same UPC code. My opinion is if you already have the CZ SP01 is to go with the Kit Adapter and use a single platform.
