Heavy double-action trigger , but it’s still a sweet p226 clone for half the price.

I bought this gun two years ago after seeing all the YouTube hype about it, and watching the comparison tests vs Sig Sauer Legion models. I too own a few Sig Sauer pistols, and without question, I feel this Arex is every bit as high quality as any of my Sig Sauer pistols.
This Arex is basically a remixed copy of the Sig P229 and P226 models, with a few little changes. The DA/SA features a very stiff DA pull that is unlikely to ever be blamed for an unexpected firing, as there is no possible way you could pull that trigger by mistake or accident. The SA trigger pull is short and precise with a satisfyingly clean break and intuitive short reset.
If I compare the DA/SA on my Arex, to the DA/SA on my Sig P239 Scorpion (SAS, SRT) , the Sig short reset trigger package is definitely crisper and resets with less travel, but the Arex does not feel bad at all by comparison. The DA trigger weight is the biggest difference in feel, but since neither have an external safety, I dont see this as an problem.
I have put about 1000 rounds through my Arex by now and can not honestly remember a single failure to feed, fire, or eject. It is every bit as accurate as any of my Sigs, and just feels great to shoot. I recommend this gun to anyone looking for a dependable 9mm at a great bargain. I simply can not say enough good things about this pistol.

After seeing this gun do so well in reviews and torture tests online, and needing a good concealed carry weapon, I decided to go for it. Short story, I love it! I could not be happier with my choice. The fit and finish is excellent, especially for this price point. The slide and trigger are smooth, and even though the double action is hefty (good to avoid light primer strikes), the single action is short and crisp. However, with a manual safety carrying cocked and locked for single action is an option. All of the controls work without any issues. Even with +P ammunition, the recoil is very manageable, and the accuracy is great. I have had no reliability issues, its feeds my carry ammo (Critical Duty) without any issues. The weight is actually much lower than I expected for being metal framed, which makes carrying it that much easier (using an Alien Gear IWB 3.5, a great holster for this pistol). The delivery and customer service with Buds was great as well. I would absolutely buy this pistol again.

Grabbed this using the 180 day lay-away, and as always (I have probably 15 firearm purchases through Buds) the process was flawless. As soon as the item was paid for it shipped the next day (as every one has in the past for me). So, Buds gets top ratings for me for flexibility of payment options and customer service, you won't find better. As far as the gun, initial impressions are very high. I have owned several Sig p229's (scorpion and elites), and this gun is of equal quality. The 3 dot sights are probably the best non-night sight ones I have ever used. They align very nicely with very little space around the front post when looking down the sights. The finish is beautiful and top-notch quality. Ok, here are the negatives. The controls can be very stiff to operate until broken in. The safety was, at first, very hard to flip on/off, however after an evening of playing with the controls it along with the mag release and slide release/decocker are very good/smooth. Repeated operation of controls along with a good lubricating have done wonders. The double action trigger is VERY heavy, in the 13 lb. range. However the pull is smooth and consistent. The single action trigger is light (4.5 lbs.) and predictable, very smooth. The reset, while it isn't Sig SRT short is not bad at all. I took it to the range and fired 300+ rounds through it with no issues. Recoil is light and the gun shoots very nicely. Producing tight groups at 10 yards easily. Honestly, the absence of the Sig SRT didn't matter because I shoot this gun as well as any of my other p229's. So, would I recommend? Absolutely! You get a gun, that IMO is Sig quality at $300-$400 less than most comparable p229's. I don't think you would be disappointed.

I had been looking at these for quite a while via the Internet but never had a chance to feel one. When it finally showed up it was a lot like a Sig p229, that was expected. Although straight out-of-the-box impressions without getting to shoot it were pretty lackluster I wasn't a huge fan of the way it felt in my hand, more specifically I'm speaking of the material the grips were made of. That's an easy fix as FIME group does have after-market grips available. It is when you take it into the range that you truly appreciate this firearm. My only gripe is that the double action trigger pull seems excessively long, if it doesnt get better during the course of the break in petiod I will be pursuing a new trigger spring for the double action. Although the single action is immaculate. I do really enjoy the way that it shoots on the range from a single action. A few features on the gun are very unique but the gun itself feels solidly built and from a functonality perspective I have had 0 malfunctions running 115, 124 and 147 grain full metal jacket ammunition. You can tell that the factory in Slovenia puts their heart and soul into the firearm as there wasn't so much as a nick on the finish nor any signs of any rough machining. If you are looking for an alternative to a Sig P229 that in my opinion is better from a reliability, practicality and affordability standpoint, then look no further as this is the perfect choice for you.

I bought the Arex because it is such a close resemblance to a Sig 229. It has a few extra features that the sig does not have. So far i have put 150 rounds through it . There were no failure to feed or stovepipe problems at all. Winchester 115 grain fmj . The only problem I had was with the mag release, it was sticking and failed to release. I am hoping with use and time that will improve. Had no problem with the accuracy of the pistol or the recoil. The double action trigger pull was hard but single action was great. Anxious to put a lot more rounds through it. May buy another one.

Shoots very nice. Put around 600 rounds through it with 100% reliability. Has a thick grip, heavy and with a very strong spring ‘would not recommend for a women.’ I can compare it to a H&K P30SK. I’ve carried it on my ankle for 3 weeks now with no issues. Buds alway takes great care of my orders.

The Good: Fits and feels great in hand, even w/my small hands. Very smooth action. Comes in a hard plastic case w/cut- out foam lining, two mags and a lock. I ordered the flat dark earth model, it's not quite FDE. Kinda hard to describe. Looks like burnt gold… if you will. Range Report: 3 range trips thus far. Total of 704 rounds w/o a single FTF, FTE and the slide always locks open on last round. Fed round nose & Flat nose, FMJ & JHP, 115gr to 124gr, brass and aluminum casings. Accuracy was spot on. Single Action trigger is roughly 5lbs on my pistol. Double action has been reported and feels like 14lbs. As for safeties, the Arex Zero has a manual safety that can be applied at any condition readiness stage the gun is in, from condition 0 to 4. it features a decocker as well. The Bad: The combination slide stop/release/decocker intermittently sticks. This only happens on the last round of emptying a mag. I personally never use the slide stop/release lever, less wear on metal to metal parts, but it is comforting to have in case a one handed operation is needed. * NOTE: the slide stop/release issue I just described has only been noted on the ccompact version that I'm aware of.* The mag release button is lose and rattles when a mag is inserted, and, on 3 occasions I had to manually remove the mag by grabbing the bottom of the mag and pulling it out while depressing the mag release button. The mag release button may be the culprit as it feels gritty when depressing it, and, the mag release spring seems to stick ever so slightly causing a slow return. Called budsgunshop.com to figure out who, what, when and where I call and ship for repairs. They told me everything I needed to know/do. But before I could do anything buds did all the leg work for me and emailed me a prepaid shipping label as well. Sent the firearm off on 07/24. I hoped to have it back in 2 weeks or less.... Would I recommend the AREX ZERO 1, absolutely. After 704 rounds in a short time span, the gun shows no signs of wear. But I would suggest getting the all black version or the the combat or full size version in any color. This is definitely a 5 star firearm, but b/c of the mag release and slide stop/decocker lever issues I give it a four. That being said, the folks at the FIME Group were all to helpful in getting this firearm repaired.

I impulse purchased this handgun because I saw a lot of videos and they were all positive, seemed reliable and I always wanted a Sig P226 but didn't want to pay the astronomical price associated with it. Since this has the looks of the Sig I said why not. It arrived this week and I took to the range, shot 350 rounds through it. I must say that this is now the most fun gun I own. Worked flawless. No hiccups, no ammo related issues as 200 of those rounds were Remington white & green JHP's plus about 80 mixed rounds that I had left over from various other brands and I just loaded the mags randomly and 100 rounds of federal ball ammo. It's the real deal, super reliable. Beware though, the grip is super thick, I have medium sized hands and they're very comfortable to me but I have to break my grip to reach the mag release or the decocker. Not a big deal to me but it's good to know. This is the compact version, I found a holster for it in Amazon for $59.00 and it works great because despite being compact it is still a big gun and I'm a skinny guy, but with a good holster you'll have no problem carrying it. It is also really heavy but again, not a big deal if you have the right holster. In conclusion, like any gun, it isn't perfect but the little quirks are what I like about it. It goes bang when you need it to, is built very solidly and will eat any ammo you feed through it. I now carry this with confidence and highly recommend. It's over $600 but worth every penny and I think they will go up in price even more when they establish themselves more. P.S. - Called K-Var and they said they're coming out with night sights and the G10 grips in the next few weeks.
