One of the sweetest shooting guns I own. This is my go to when shooting for fun or league competitions. Series 70 trigger is perfect.

The gun jammed (Ftf) on my first magazine of Underwood Supercomp 38 bonded jhp but went smoothly with Armscor fmj. The 2-spring recoil springs won’t work with a full length Guide rod, especially the small spring of the 2. Am replacing mine with a Wolff spring to fit with my stainless full length guide rod installed. Little loose on the slide to frame fit.

As always Bud's service was excellent. Ordered on a Friday and received the following Wednesday. The Colt .38 Super was as expected. Good looking pistol and shoots great.

Having fired a family member's Kimber Gold Match in .38 Super many times, I have always wanted my own in the 1911 platform. I have several 1911 .45 ACPs, but there is something about that .38 Super in P ammo that makes it hard hitting, yet a pleasure to shoot. When Colt announced the Govt Competition model in this caliber I knew it belonged in my collection. I wasn't crazy about the Series 80 version, which came out first. Not that there is anything wrong with a firing pin safety per se, I just prefer the feel of the Series 70 trigger and believe the 1911 design was fine without additional safety devices. Apparently Colt agreed and started to produce the pistol in the Series 70 configuration. Finding one locally proved impossible, but I knew Buds from previous purchases and had no hesitation snagging one when it became available here. The gun arrived in short order at the club I had it shipped to which afforded the opportunity to shoot it as soon as the 4473 was completed. It shot as well or better than I thought it would and is a very nice gun. The Colt is a solid performer. I don't own any of the $3k custom 1911s, but I have shot several. The Govt Competition holds it's own with them at 1/3 the price. They say you get what you pay for, but I think in this instance you get a little more. Great gun!

I haven't shot this one yet but I do have a Government model 70 Colt Combat Elite and that one is a dream to shoot. The only difference is this one is a .38 super, less recoil and lightning faster than the .45. Love the stainless with the blue G10 grips. As far as Bud's goes. I have bought over 10 guns from Bud's to date and have to say they do a fine job. For those of you who don't know, it takes about a week for your ACH to clear the bank and it is shipped then.
