Texas Jack (Mike) Harvey took grip frames and dimensions from three classic Colt revolvers, the 1878 DA, the 1877 Colt Thunderer DA and the 1st generation 1873 SAA features from these three grips were combined into the grip frame of the new Thunderer. One piece walnut grip. Forged Old Model color case hardened frame. Blued finish.

This Cimarron version of the SAA is just like all the others- Fantastic! I was not sure if I would like the Birds head grip, but it is great, it really fills the hand and has the usual point of aim like the standard grip. Fit and finish are flawless. I will be getting another as I like this one so well. CC

Just got my second pair of these Cimmarons CA346's. Loved the first two so much I ordered another pair. These do have knurled/slotted cylinder pin retaining screw where the first had slotted only. These are not just weekend plinkers but will be occasionally carried as serious ccw guns. I carry stainless so as not to wear bluing from standard finish. Although I have lots of 9mm's and snubs single actions are my favorite carry gun. I got a number of one ragged hole groups at a local indoor range at only 7 yards but with older eyes and not too bright lights was delighted with them. Fit and finish are top notch. 7 stars if they had that many to rate.

Great gun. Comfortable. Fit and finish are good. Does shoot 3" low at 7 yards, but that can be fixed by grinding down the front sight if I so desire.

Love the look, very well finished. It is rated for smokeless even though it is a "blackpowder" frame. As with first generation Colts it has the thin front sight and narrow frame sight cut. I've seen pics where they have knurled cylinder pin retaining screw for finger renoval, these came in with regular slotted head flush fit screws. A big plus is that ejector housing does not have to be removed for cylinder removal to clean. The ejector rod is designed to clear pin for easy takedown. I also prefer smooth grips and these have them. 5 star's all the way.

This is truly a work of art. The fit and finish are excellent. It has a wonderful look of the old west. When pulling back on the hammer, you can tell right away that it's a finely tuned revolver. Each click of the hammer, and cylinder sound and feel perfect. The trigger pull is very light, and it shoots straight and true. The front sight is just right. I love the feel of the bird handle, and the wooden grips are beautiful. This is a wonderful gun at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this gun to anyone looking to add a single action revolver to their collection.

Yes sir, I have a pair of these Cim-Thunderer's ordered from Buds Guns. Buds service is beyond reproach. My two shooters are well tuned and shoot as well as can be expected. Remember, they are short barrelled and big bored. Sometimes they are used for Cowboy Action Shooting. They hit the steel and get great style points. Buy them, own them, and shoot them.
