Snap Caps are made to protect your firearms by relieving the stress on your firing pins and firing pin springs. When you safely store your unloaded gun, put a snap cap in the chamber and fire your gun to allow the firing pin to lay at rest. This will help prevent firing pins from breaking in the future. Honestly these snap caps kinda suck. After checking the functionality of my buddies 12ga, after a few cycles the rim of the snap cap cracked and it was broken. Wouldn't recommend

service from Buds as always is excellent without a doubt. As for the product, I can not recommend. I install one of these snap cap and got it stock in the housing. It seems that the rim on the snap cap is too thin to flow in the storage chamber. My weapon is a new pump 12 gauge. Stick with a brass base snap cap.
