amazing gun is perfect

Arrived quickly, great gun! FFL transfer went smoothly. It was a great purchased. Gun is nice and handles well. Shot a few boxes of 38 and 357. Is easy handle and accurate.

Bud's service was great, everything from the initial purchase, to the shipping and tracking were top notch. I read a lot of reviews about this Revolver from both Bud's website and others before deciding to purchase this model. I could not be happier with this Revolver, as the finish was excellent, and right out of the box this thing shoots better than most of my competition Pistols. The double action spring was stiff, but with exercising it with Snap-Caps, it smoothed out nicely, no trigger job needed. I have shot about 500 .357 Magnum rounds, and 200 .38 Special rounds, with no issues or concerns. Recoil was moderate with both calibers, and quite honestly I prefer the .357 Magnum rounds over the .38 Special rounds. I did change out the Pistol grip to the Hogue rubber one-piece grip, but outside of that no other modification were made to this Revolver. Finding a Holster is somewhat an issue as other websites have mentioned, but Triple K Holsters is the product provider for Ruger, and they charge about 10% less than Ruger, and have all their SP101 products in stock. Overall impression with just over 750 total rounds down range is this Revolver exceeded my expectations, and I'll be visiting Bud's soon for my next firearm purchase.

This is one sweet pistol. Beautiful to look at, smooth/silky polished finish, great lines, and the recessed 11 degree crown. Altamont grips are a good match for the pistol. I sprayed it down with some gun oil, wiped off the excess and ran a bore snake down the bores. Took a box of .38 special to the range because I just couldn't wait for my regular range night. A pleasure to shoot, smooth pull and clean break in both single and double action. It felt weightless in my hand. Will have to try it with some .357 as soon as I can get some but I don't doubt it will shoot true. The .38 was very accurate out to 30 feet. Would have gone out further but I ran out of ammo. Another website had this same pistol for $39 less. I tried the price match feature at Bud's and the price was lowered by $13. The pistol took a week to get to me. Considering that I had to send Bud's a money order I think that the service was quick.

I received my new Match Champion and immediately sent it back to Ruger. I picked up the firearm and noticed that the grip was loose and I tried to tighten it but it did not fix the problem. You noticed the loose grips as soon as you pick up the gun. Also, this particular Ruger is advertised as having a polished finish. It is polished however it has polishing scratches all over the firearm. Ruger is a great company and is in the process of fixing my gun quickly.

Ruger SP101 Match Champion received in perfect shape, Nice finish and outstanding wood grips. Gave it a cleaning and then out back to the range. Great for knocking off a row of tin cans double action at 20-30 feet. Pie plate size off hand DA at 50 ft. Trigger pretty good, but heavier and not as smooth as any of my Smiths. Maybe it will smooth out with use. Fiber-optic front sight very effective. I would have liked two dots on rear sight, but I'm not going to complain. .38 special loads very comfortable, and full house .357 mags are stout. All steel and wood. Great looking gun. Grips feel good in hand. It's a keeper.

The gun arrived and it is just gorgeous to look at but there seems to be an issue as you pull the trigger and rotate thru the respective cylinders. I don't have a lot of revolver experience but of the three that I have, all have one groove or 'line' around the cylinder to show a wear mark. This revolver has two cylinders where there are two lines and it 'sticks' ever so lightly. It is certainly discernable from the regular trigger pull on the other three cylinders. Something is wrong. I'll contact Ruger as a place to start but, since you asked, seemingly, I bought myself a pain in the ass.

Bud did an excellent job on shipping. The Ruger is a sweet shooting pistol. I had to adjust the rear sight as it was shooting 3 inches to the right at 25 feet. The sights are a great improvement over the original SP101 sights. Much easier to see and more accurate. The grip is comfortable with 38 Spec rounds but the recoil from 357's is a bit testy. The trigger pull for double action is clean and crisp and single action it is about a 5 pound pull. The shiny finish looks nice but needs to be wiped to keep it looking nice. Overall I am happy with the pistol. Will try a set of different wood grips that are larger and from my older SP101 to see if they help when shooting 357's. Since this is one of my home protection firearms I will keep it loaded with 38Spec hollow points.

When I unpackaged the pistol I was unsure about it, it seemed to sit differently in my hands. It is a beautiful revolver and after a detailed cleaning and inspection I took it to the range for a test run. Without a doubt it is the most accurate pistol I have ever purchased. Out of the box, totally stock it is a shooter. I was shooting very small groups and actually found it easy to do so. SA is very crisp and even DA is easy. I give this revolver very high marks and consider it a very good purchase. El Guapo

I have always been a fan of the Ruger revolver line they are built a beautifully. This particular Ruger SP 101 match champion is by far the most beautiful revolver I've ever owned. The wooden grip contours perfectly to my hand and it feels extremely well balanced. Cannot wait to take it out next weekend to the range and see how it does. I'm extremely satisfied with the fiber optic front sight and the fit and finish of this particular gun. It has a hi gloss polishes that reminds me of chrome plating.
