Please Note: We have received these rifles from several different suppliers over the years. They were all sealed with cosmoline to prevent rust and corrosion, so expect to spend some time removing this oily substance. The lot we are currently shipping from includes ONLY the Rifle, Bayonet, Oil Bottle, and Tool Kit.

The Russians modernized their model 1891 rifle into what would become one of the most successful military arms the world has ever known! Its simple and robust design, accuracy and awesome reliability served the Soviets well as their main battle rifle of WWII. Under appreciated until recently, the Mosin Nagant is one of the hottest collectibles on the market today!

Great value for a bolt action rifle

I purchased three of these rifles from Buds and I am so pleased with them all. I've never held a rifle that was so balanced as these. Accuracy? You can beat them. I shot at a target at the 100 yard mark and I put the first three shots right in the middle. I hadn't even shot the rifle prior to that. I gave one rifle to my son that was made in 1939. Another was made in 1941 and the third one was made in 1943, which is the year I was born. I put a synthetic black stock on the 1943 model and it looks like a very expensive hunting rifle. I wouldn't take $1,000 for it! They were the talk of the town around here for the past ten years or so.

I received my rifle all greasy, etc. It was expected. None of the metal parts were rusted at all. With the rifle came a bayonet, and other accessories I assume would be used in the war. It is a great conversation piece and a wonderful addition to my collection.

For the sake of clarity, I bought this rifle in 2012. The listing didn't stipulate condition, or anything significant about the firearm; I'm reasonably certain the rifle had been crated and warehoused since its manufacture in 1942. I took a gamble buying it from Buds Gun Shop, as there was no way for me to examine it before purchase. 10 years later? No regrets. I have spent a great deal of time and brass (or berdan steel casings, whichever) with this gun, and most of the firearm has held up extremely well to that level of abuse. Once I cleared the cosmoline from the gun ("clean" is a temporary state. Expect them to bleed the stuff for years,) the action was extremely smooth. Chambering was a bit rough until it had been broken in somewhat; sometimes it would need excess momentum to chamber and lock fully, but like I said, that's cleared up with use. The rifling was beautiful, and the crown was in excellent condition. The rifle is front-heavy; a 28 inch barrel will do that to any gun. My wooden stock cracked a few years in, (something I attribute to Texas desert heat) and I found a more modern replacement that shifted a lot of the weight behind the action and really balanced things out. Don't expect to mount an optic on this thing without putting a lot of work (and aftermarket parts) into it. It's a big, loud, cheap, fun gun to shoot, and everyone should have one.
