Jolly, yes Sir to both. It is setup very similar to a Benelli and is labelled as the poor man's Benelli.

I love this gun, but the holes in the side saddle seem too small for my 12 gauge shells. Can’t get them to fit. Tried from top and bottom, but no luck. Any advice?

Jonathan, if it is a 12Ga Side Saddle, it should fit. Try a 20ga shell or different brand 12ga shell just to see if it fits. European American Armory/Girsan Customer Service may be able to advise or resolve this for you at (321) 639-4842 8:30am – 3:30pm EST

Just reading between the lines, it sounds like the HDT has been upgraded with an "XP" recoil spring like what can be bought for a Benelli. That being said, if I buy this and have cycling problems with light practice loads (for my wife), can I either purchase a standard Girsan MC312 recoil spring or will a standard Benelli recoil spring drop right in?

Jim, the standard Girsan Recoil Spring will work for sure. Benelli May or may not work depending on how close it may be to the Girsan specifications.

Benelli Supernova extensions should work with some minor modification. Don't know of any extensions made specifically for this gun though.

Just my opinion but if you are going to use the gun a lot go with a know brand like benelli, beretta ,mossberg or remington where you can get the correct aftermarket parts and have support 5-10 years down the road when you need replacement parts. I have a shotgun in my safe that I have been looking for a replacement for a bad magazine tube and I have not been able to get one in 4 years now By the way it is a S&W shotgun that was made in the 1980s

Christopher, the 2nd reviewer here used this Carlson's Benelli Nova/Super Nova - 7-Shot Magazine Extension. Only took heavy rounds. Wouldn’t cycle anything light, to be expected from a beefed up auto inertia driven 12 GA. Was a comfortable platform and a formidable shotgun. Would serve as a reliable home defense or hog gun, not much else.

I got the gun with no issues and was impressed by the quality of it for the price paid. I really like the ability of the gun to take screw in chokes. It makes it a handy gun for deer hunting and home defense. It is utterly reliable with any high brass shells and is a pleasure shoot. It has the same operating system as the Benelli M2 but without the price of a benelli. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

This was my first shotgun purchase, and I did not go wrong. This thing was a beauty out of the box/hardcase and it weighs less than most AR's . It was already lubed up so to the range I went. I broke it in and my shoulder with some Winchester 3'' 00 buckshot, then some 2 3/4 #4 buckshot and they ran flawless, i will say it doesn't kick as much as a pump action but it does punch. It has a rubber pad on the end but I will be investing in some kind of recoil pad like a Limb Saver or Hogue. Dealing with Bud's was a breeze as usual.

I happened to jump on the website to look at my order I had placed the day before and this was on the homepage on sale. I really liked the look, feel and options it came with for the price. Went ahead and ordered it as well. Operates great, no issues so far. Plenty of aftermarket upgrades out there for it. This was my 3 purchase from Buds and as usual all was great. Easy to buy, fast shipping and all was in great condition. Just purchased my 4th firearm from Buds today can’t wait till that comes in to add it to the collection.

For the price I guess you can't go wrong. This is my first shotgun. I cleaned and lubed it before I shot it. The first time I went and shot target and bird loads (Winchester 2 3/4, 1325 & 1350 velocity , 1 oz, 7 and 7 1/2 shot). It would not cycle properly. Just about every round would not feed or eject properly. I went through about 40 rounds. Cleaned and lubed again. Second time I went out I shot Winchester High Brass 2 3/4, 1330 velocity, 1 1/4 oz, 7 1/2 shot,) and it worked like a champ. Went through 40 rounds and only 1 FTE. I don't know if it needed to be broken in or if the slight difference in ammo might have helped. I have buckshot on order and I'm sure it will do better with the heavier loads. Buds is great. Best prices. Be patient with them during this COVID19 crisis. Good luck!

The Girsan MC312 HDT Tactical shotgun from Buds is a great deal for $249.00. This is not a gun for the first time shotgun purchaser since there are some caveats, which Buds does explain in a video on You Tube; pointing out the difference between the HDT and LDT MC312 models. I have read some of the reviews prior to purchasing this gun and noticed that there were issues posted regarding failure to extract or eject with the HDT gun. That model is designed to shoot high velocity ammo in both 2.75" and 3" shells. It is recommended using ammo over 1300 fps (get a Limbsaver #10823 recoil pad); you're gonna need it. Lower velocity ammo will not extract and eject the shells consistently due to the heavy recoil buffer spring. The fix would be to replace the existing spring with a reduced power spring from Taran Tactical Innovations. Since this gun is basically a copy of the Benelli M2 design, many Benelli M2 components will work in the MC312 with exception of magazine extensions...the factory mag tube need to me trimmed down and it requires a Benelli Nova extension nut. The bottom line is if you have the skill and patience to do some work on the MC312, it becomes an awesome piece. Winchester AA low velocity loads at 1145 fps....no problem. Us old guys need not wear out our shoulders, any more then they already are, shooting that heavy stuff.
