This full-size 1911 that starts with everything you love about our US Army model with a few details we thought would be perfect for soldiers post WWII. We started with a “ring” style spur hammer to help reduce the effects of hammer bite, making the gun more enjoyable to shoot. Next we took a look at the A1 style sights and added material to make them not only easier to see, but also more durable.

Superb quality, sleek lines and great value and price. Many can and do spend a lo more for in all actuality is the same 1911 as this. It comes finished in a nice tone, has an organized and equipped case and choice of grips and magazines. I think it is a wise investment and will last for years- trouble free.

This was my first online firearm purchase . I love this 1911, for the price it can't be beat. My FFL was impressed with the quality and couldn't believe the deal. I've already put 300 rnds through it, have had any issues. Going forward Bud's will be my #1 go-to place for all my firearms purchases. I live in NJ, yup I know,..buds made it it so easy, shipping was quick and they made picking an FFL simple.

I took it to the range twice. We put about 100 rounds though it. No problems. I never cleaned it, just shoot right out of box. Changed the gripps to wood US grips.

I decided to purchase the Tisas 1911 based on how much I liked my PX9. After going to the range and putting 100 rounds through it, I have not been disappointed. The pistol has a very solid feel to it and shot extremely accurate even with black sights. The trigger felt good, too. I may modify the springs to lighten the pull weight but will run about 500 rounds to break it in first. I experienced 3 "light" feeds on the last round in the magazine. I have several magazines and should have verified if it was the mag (Mec-Gar) or the firearm. I am perplexed why Bud's takes my order money from my bank account quickly but won't process my order until they deposit it into their account. Thankfully the retail store lets me take my purchases after they take my cash. I'd hate to wait for them to make the day's deposit.

The 1911A1 I used on the U.S. Army MP pistol team in Germany The M1911A1 I was issued was a worn out model purchased by the government during World War 2, but since I was seconded to the USAMP pistol team in Germany I was assigned arms room and CQ duty when not on the range. We were required to use our issued sidearms in competition, but we were allowed to use authorized replacement parts. I kept my serialized Ithaca frame, but replaced the internals and slide with parts from the community commander’s issue M1911A1 (which was also an Ithaca) and relatively unused since he preferred the HK VP70Z and never signed out his issued .45. Since the spur hammer was notorious for hammer bite and extended beavertail safeties were not authorized replacement parts, I replaced the hammer with a Commander-type hammer. I also replaced the arched mainspring housing with a flat one (without a lanyard ring) that I found in the arms room. Sights were upgraded with a version which was still fixed non-adjustable but somewhat higher profile with improved visibility. The finish was, of course, flat parkerized and the grips were issue injection molded brown. Team members who desired them were allowed to install longer triggers but I never did since there were none available in the arms room and I was familiar with the feel of the shorter trigger. Before I DEROSed back stateside I switched the parts back as they had been, but I missed having that handgun. I often considered recreating that .45 but never did due to the ever-increasing cost of military issue 1911A1’s. Instead I recently found a new Turkish-made M1911A1 that recreated mine almost identically. It was not an Ithaca and had no military markings, but had a gray Ceracote finish that mimicked parkerizing. It is imported by SDS and made by Tisas. It is called the 1911A1 Service Special, and cost $329.99. How could I resist? Reviews rate it highly and despite the bargain price is constructed of forged carbon steel like the originals rather than the cheaply produced MIM parts so common in today’s guns. Fit is better than mine was and is much nicer cosmetically. Barrel is hammer forged and has proven to be more accurate than the mil-spec barrels than were rated for 10,000 rounds maximum. (We had two barrels fail during practice sessions in 1985.) All things considered, the SDS/Tisas M1911A1 is a tremendous bargain for anyone interested in obtaining a better example of one of the iconic pistols of the past century, and is still relevant today.
