Great .22 mag pistol. Dealing with Buds is always a good thing. I’m running cci 40 gr maxi’s. I wasn’t sure if I would like the white finish but it’s really grown on me. I did replace the rear sight with the included lower sight. Turned it into a tax driver for me. Thank you Walther and Budd’s!

The best 22 magnum that I ever shot. No misfeed or magazine issues. Shoot all brand of ammo.

Great gun and one of the most accurate guns I have ever used. No problem with ammo at all....just stick to 40 gr

This is my fifth Walter, always wanted a 22 magnum that runs! I put 150 rounds through it today and I ran flawless! 100rds of armscor 40gr.&50rds of CCI maxi mags 40gr. This thing is a fire breathing dragon! The fireballs that come out of it they're pretty intense! I love it, never been disappointed by Walter!

Buds is great to work with, easy checkout and fast shipping. A Gun is how awesome, like most rim fire pistols I'm still testing which ammo it likes the best. Thank you!

4/5 stars as my initial impression. First, the ordering process was easy. The shipping was delayed but I ordered it a day or two before Christmas so that is completely understandable and the gun still arrived at my FFL by the 3rd of January. In the past my orders from Buds - not placed over the holidays - have arrived very quickly. My expectation was for the pistol to be a slightly smaller and much lighter version of the Walther PDP-F 9mm I already own. I was wrong. This 22 magnum is about the same size/weight as the full size PDP. I happen to like that as it (a) means the recoil impulse is much weaker than 9mm Walthers and (b) that the ladies at Women On Target - some of whom have never fired a handgun - can get used to the feel of a full sized pistol without the usual recoil....before then giving something with a little more oomph a try. The pistol feels very substantial and well made. In that way it compares favorably to most of the other 22 magnum semi-autos on the market such as the KelTec and Smith & Wesson. The only pistol I can think of that rivals the WMR in terms of beefiness is the Rock Island but the Walther has much better fit and finish. I even kind of like the Storm Trooper color pattern. In terms of accuracy, I found that the sights worked best with a 6 o'clock hold and I was able to reliably hit the nickel sized adhesive target repair pasties from about 5 yards. It was easy to put all 15 rounds in a 3" circle from that distance while firing rapidly due to the very mild recoil. The orange front sight with blacked out rear sight worked well. I didn't try the pistol out with an optic. I went with 4 of 5 because I had 3 feeding malfunctions while firing the first 200 rounds. In each case the round started to strip out of the magazine but was tilted upwards as though the feed ramp angle didn't allow for it to make the jump into the chamber. Clearing the malfunction required dropping the magazine and working the action...and then jiggling the pistol to get the round to fall from the top of the magazine well. Each time the round being manually extracted managed to vertically lodge itself at the top of the magazine well. Needless to say, anyone who wasn't reasonably proficient with firearms would struggle to clear a malfunction. Also, care has to be taken when loading the magazines in order to avoid rim lock. I also found that when loading the magazines the pistol avoided malfunctions if every five-ish rounds I pulled down on the load-assist tabs and let them snap the loaded rounds back upwards. This prevented the rounds from being nosed down when they reached the top of the magazine. Again, someone who isn't used to firearms may not know to try this and the result will be frustration with the gun and possibly shooting in general. This is a great plinking gun and perfect companion for a 22 magnum revolver or rifle so long as you know to be careful when loading and also how to clear malfunctions if/when they arise. It could be a home defense option for someone who is recoil averse (weaker hands/arthritis/etc) though it would require a bit more training than, say, a Ruger LCR in 22 magnum.

Added a Holosun 407C optic and it resulted in terrible slide cycling. Purchased a Galloway Precision -10% recoil spring assembly (left one) in hopes of improving loading reliability. Also bought 6 different 22Mag brands to find the “best” for the setup. If this doesn’t work then going to remove optic and just use iron sights. I guess it’s true that you get what you pay for.

Great purchase. I have been looking at a semi auto .22 magnum for awhile now. The trigger was very nice. Because of it's full size the recoil was almost non existent. It is a fun gun to shoot and I love the white version. The sights are a little off and need to be adjusted or a red dot added. I had an issue with the first 1-5 rounds feeding in both mags, no problems with the last 10 rounds. I anticipate this going away with more use. The mags were easy to load with the assist tabs. If you are a fan of the .22 mag or Walther this is a gun worth looking at.

I am very pleased with Bud’s service, and I am extremely happy with this “big” little Walther. My second Walther handgun, and both are beautifully designed and manufactured. Good, old German engineering and attention to detail! I am undecided how effective 22wmr might be as a preferred self-defense round/weapon, but it is certainly a great range and practice handgun, and, in a pinch, 15 rounds of high-velocity, 40-50 gr ammo might be sufficient. In any case, it is an absolute pleasure to own, and to use. And, at $300, it is an absolute bargain. Nicely done!
