Great example of a very clean Mosin.

This is an excellent first choice for a C&R Military Surplus WWII service rifle. I've looked for one many years since I was a teenager, but couldn't legally buy until I became a young adult. I love this gun at the range. It's a bit on the heavy side, but with time and practice it becomes natural. Easy to operate and clean. One thing to note: this gun was caked in Cosmoline. A lot of thorough deep cleaning is necessary before loading it up for range time. Also, this order included a bayonet, dual ammo pouch, and even field tool kit in a pouch for maintenance. Well worth the money these days. Thank you, Bud's!!!

Great gun! But once again Buds packaging is a joke

In good condition for its age. Not sure if I will fire it or just showcase it with my other vintage military weapons.

First Mosin purchase, I missed the boat 10 years ago with all the super cheap ones. The rifle I received was as described with a bayonet and ammo pouch. The rifle cleaned up nice with some elbow grease. Functions as expected. If you are on the fence and looking for a mosin I would pull the trigger on this deal.

I have to say this gun is as listed.. Excellent condition. Only took hours of cleaning to reveal the gorgeous gun underneath the cosmo gunk

Fast shipping, the rifle itself was in a very nice shape - I would rank it as "very good ". The description was accurate - it was indeed an ex-Dragoon from the mid 20's which was arsenal refinished and put in long terms storage after ww2. As some other reviewers pointed out it doesn't come with a sling but oiler, tools, ammo pouches and a bayonet were in a package. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. My only issue (and the reason I took off one star) was the packaging. It was quite minimal and when the package came the bolt was sticking out of the box, also some scuffs on the stock were likely from the bayonet rattling inside. Some extra bubble wrap would have gone a long way. Fortunately these rifles are designed to be as indestructible as firearms can be.

The firearm arrived as described. It is in excellent condition. I had called Century while waiting on delivery to inquire about these particular ex-Dragoons, and Century was very responsive and proud of these rifles. Never having done business with Bud's before, I wanted to do my Due Diligence. The stock was in unusually good condition. I will enjoy sanding it down, and staining. As for the iron itself: the bolt was extremely "sticky". I needed to spend some time on Youtube to find ways to deal with this. Ultimately, using my Dremel and a soft nylon polisher to hit all cams and mating surfaces. Still need to do more, but at least I am not slapping the bolt anymore. [Question: how on Earth were these used in combat if the bolt is so sticky? In my firearm, the serial numbers on the bolt and bore do match.] The bore was cleaned with boiling water, followed by mineral spirits. Removed all the cosmoline. Ahh, cosmoline! Not as bad as task as people have written. Just put the bolt and bore into trays of mineral spirits, and use a nylon tooth brush. You will be fine. Have not fired a round yet, will send to a gunsmith for an assessment. Just being cautious. So, in terms of condition, the rifle was honestly described by Bud's. Delivery was slow due to my payment by ACH, and not credit card. You can expect a good two weeks to elapse until delivery to your FFL. And then at the FFL you need to do the paperwork, and then wait some more days for the background check. Just a heads up. As for the usual praise which accompanies these reviews, I can say that I appreciate Bud's support of Mr. Greg Kinman and his Hickok45 Youtube reviews. And if you learn from Mr. Kinman's reviews, and want honest descriptions of product sold, then you can feel secure in doing business with Budsgunshop.com

When I received my Mosin, the owner of my local gun store said hundreds have been through his shop and he never saw one in such excellent condition. It shipped very fast. Upon receiving it, I took it home and took everything apart. Even the bolt assembly. There are plenty of guides on YouTube to guide you through it, but thankfully these old guns are very simple. I soaked everything but the wooden stock in odorless mineral spirits combined with warm water and scrubbed all the excess Cosmoline off with toothbrushes. I let the stock out in warm weather and wiped it down every 30 minutes to get most of the Cosmoline off. Took it out shooting last weekend and it shot very, very well. Of course the first time you shoot it, more Cosmoline will come out of the stock so take an old cloth with you. All serial numbers matched minus the bayonet (which is common). I would highly recommend this to everyone looking for an old war rifle but not willing to spend for a Kar98K or even M1 Garand.
