Hi - I am looking for a cowboy action coach gun and was wondering if this model has an extractor or if it ejects the spent shells? I did not see any info in the description. Thanks!

I have always wanted a hammered shotgun for my collection of Old West style firearms, and when I saw Bud's had this Pietta 1878 Hartford in stock - and for an excellent price - I had to "pull the trigger" and get it. It's an absolutely gorgeous gun. It's well made, everything is nice and well fitted. I look forward to many years of enjoyment out of it.

Nice shotgun....very similar to my Cimarron Doc Holliday coach gun, which is essentially identical to the Taylor's Wyatt Earp model (both made by Pedersoli). I wouldn't be surprised if Pedersoli makes this shotgun for Pietta....it's that similar. But there are no markings to indicate that. I'll be using it for black powder SASS competition. Hammer springs are a bit stiff out of the box, but should break in over time. The hammers are just the right size and angle that I should be able to cock both with my off hand once the springs lighten up. Just an FYI.....you can cock the hammers with the action open or closed, depending on your shooting style.

Nice example of the old west, Pietta did a fantastic job in all aspects of production.The walnut stock is incredible, The case hardened side plates give it excellent detail. Quality all around.

Looks exactly like something out of an old western. Nothing fancy therefore it is exactly what I wanted. Very tight fit therefore apply grease before assembly so you can get it apart.
