MOS 500 Tactical 12 20 CYL Black Synthetic 8 - 20" Barrel, 8 Rounds, 3" Chamber, Synthetic Stock

I've had a Remington 870 and recently purchased the Winchester SXP. I like the Mossberg 500 just fine; when it's all put together. The only issue that I could complain about is the takedown of it. Plain and simple, it's much more time consuming to clean than the other two shotguns I mentioned. So I find myself shooting the SXP a lot more.

This shotgun is a awesome addition to my firearms collection. It looks good and fires well too.

It's a 20" Mossberg with ghost rings and a heat shield for less than 400, it's a deal. It works great, as you'd expect. I'm about 500 rounds in of varying types with no malfunctions. Couple things... the lips on the edge of the feed port were really sharp on mine, I had to file them down a bit because I cut my thumb a couple times while pushing shells in. The other thing is that, since this is an 8 round and not a 6 round tube, you'll have to get a new tube if you want to get hunting barrels for it. All the extended barrels with chokes I could find are fitted for a 6 round tube. The price and hassle of fitting a new tube and purchasing a new barrel is about the same as just buying a separate gun, so if you're planning on doing anything other than home defense or door kicking with it, I'd recommend getting a 6 round model (which are offered for 200-300 dollars on this very site!) Which begs the question, why did they put sights on a shotgun you're probably not gonna use past 10 yards?

Quick delivery by Bud's. Took it to the local indoor range and put about 60 Fiocchi low recoil slugs through it. Zero malfunctions! I am sure full loads would make it kick like a mule. My only complaint is that it has these weird long bars coming off the end of the heat shied attachment point at the end of the barrel. Overall good quality shotgun for home/self defense. It's easy to field strip and clean. I would definitely recommend this shotgun. The ghost ring sights were 1.5 inches low but dead center at 25 yards straight out of the box. Just make sure that you clean it before going to the range, it is coated in shipping grease.

The Mossberg 500 tactical was my first shotgun but it has proven itself to be my favorite gun in my current collection. I have fired around 200 shells through it so far without a single malfunction. You might need to rack the slide extra hard for bigger loads but other then that it has a smooth, incredibly reliable action and controlls recoil quite well compared too some other 12 gauges i've fired. Could not recommend more, especially for your first shotgun.

This Mossberg 500 is the best 12G that I have owned, and there have been several. It is reliable , easy to use (cycle) , easy to field strip and clean, it just flat out works. I do want to add that tis is the first time I have used Ghost Ring Sights, and I'm hooked. Great product Lots of fun to shoot Outstanding home defense gun. now , I only wished the Shockwave was legal in my state!
