Picked up the 930SX yesterday and shot it today. After the 1st round, the firing pin conitnued to have week primer hits. I unloaded and loaded the gun several times trying different ammo. Only 10-20% of the trigger pulls went bang. The rounds went into battery and cycled fine. It's just that the gun went click instead of bang. In addition, the front sight is way to the left and the trigger guard is very loose. Needless to say, this gun is going back to mossberg so now I need to pay another $20 for shipping. Big disapointment since the gun looks and feels awesome! They must have a bad batch going out.

Received my Mossberg 930 SPX yesterday from my FFL. The new ACH payment was smooth and convenient and the cash discount was nice. Like my previous transaction, Buds was outstanding in that the price was low and the entire transaction was fast. For sure they have my continued business.

Concerning the gun itself: avoid it like the plague.
I inspected it at the FFL to determine any flaws-- At the time I couldn't tell any and I foolishly accepted it. When I took it home and took it apart I quickly realized the quality control at Mossberg is utter garbage.
First, the front sight tower was canted dramatically to the right. It's more than an eighth of an inch off (verified with a set of calipers). Forget using slugs at any appreciable distance.
Second, the receiver mounted rail was canted slightly to the left. I almost can't get the sights to line up at all. So forget putting on a red-dot to compensate for the leaning tower on the barrel.
The real salt in the wound was that Mossberg apparently KNEW this and set the sights all the way to the left to line up and compensate for it.
Third, the Choate magazine extension on the end was ever so slightly bent up and to the right. I suspect this will lead to stoppages in the future.
Finally there was a slight blemish in the finish near the safety (that I don't care about).

Tomorrow and a heated phone call will determine how Mossberg handles this absolute train-wreck of quality control. That being said I absolutely regret the purchase; buyer beware.

This "weapon" is a POS! Shotgun was shipped to me defective and inoperative. When I went to do a functions check with the first step the weapon failed with the bolt locking up in the rearward position "tangled" up with shell lifter/feed ramp. Pretty much seems to be an ubiquitous
issue in that a simple google search turns up abundant evidence of other such user experiences. Pretty much all in all the front stock piece was literally about to fall off it was so loose, finish was off in places to the point of actually looking like it had been drug across a gravel parking lot, rail and rear peep were loose, and OF COURSE the fact that the bolt would bind on the shell lifter thus essentially causing this weapon to be inoperative and just a 600 dollar paper weight and this without even having had the chance to fire one round. This forum thread has pictures of the bolt binding issue and plenty of other reports of this very common issue: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/gunsmithing-troubleshootin-
g/62952-mossberg-930sx.html

This is my first Mossberg weapon and will be my last. The experience of having to deal with their customer service at the very best and most kindest I can describe it are "amateurish" ... I called and arranged for a shipping label to be sent and waited a week and a half and still no label, turns out they never even shipped it but tried to play it off by saying that Fed ex "lost" the label but at any rate I spent roughly 600 dollars on this POS and it has been going on two months since I have had it still haven't got to fire it or use it in the intended local 3 Gun Matches out at the Best of the West Range in Liberty Hill Texas because I have been dealing with Mossberg "customer" service and trying to resolve this issue...

Just received my 930 SPX. If you decide to buy one be sure to check it carefully before even starting the transfer paperwork. They've had some QC problems in the past and it seems that they still do. I knew that they were having problems with the trigger housings being loose and the front sight.

I'd heard that the issues had been addressed so I didn't think to worry about it much (I've never had to send a firearm back). While the FFL was doing the transfer paperwork I grabbed it and looked through the sights and "big as day" the front sight tower is canted to the left. Not even close to straight!!! I'm a pretty easy going person, but come on.....this has been an issue for a long time with this model and they still can't get it right? I didn't even check the rest of the shotgun. Matter of fact I left it at the dealers shop. This may turn out to be a fine shotgun, but If they can't pay attention to such a glaring detail that's been a problem for some time....what are the odds it doesn't have other issues also?

Best Regards,
Jerry

I was impressed with the product information provided by Mossberg about
their tactical 12 gauge, model 930sx. After about a seven month wait,
Bud's sent me an email notifying me a new 930 was available. I ordered
the second one of the forty Bud's had in stock. When it was at my FFL I
looked at it and immediately noticed the front sight was missing. The
gun also looked kind of scuffed, like it had been bounced around for a
while in its box. My dealer and I went through the box and packing
materials thinking the sight was either not installed or had come off
and was loose in the box. The sight was not located. Then I looked
through the rear sight and noticed the front sight wings were not in
alignment on the barrel. The rear portion of the front sight assembly
was canted or twisted to the right by about an eighth of an inch. I left
the gun at the dealer and contacted Mossberg. They were very courteous
and suggested I could either return the entire gun or just the barrel
for an expedited repair or replacement. Bud's was also very
accommodating and told me they would do whatever I wanted; return for
repair or replacement.

After a day of deliberation I decided to pay the extra dealer handling
fee and directed my FFL to return the unit to Bud's. Because I had
waited so long to get this gun and after delivery finding the two major
defects in it, I was very disappointed.

While made in America, I wonder if Mossberg has non-American, foreigners
on its assembly line. It looks to me like you get what you pay for. The
Mossberg is less expensive than other brands, and I own a Mossberg pump,
but I have learned that if I want a well made firearm, one that I can
expect to use a lot (and not just park under the bed), I will need to
pay more for the quality I want. Because of the poor craftsmanship of
the Mossberg, I looked at a Benelli. What a difference. I will likely
pay the difference and get a well made firearm I can take pride in.

Nice gun...slow service from buds

Iv had this gun over a year now and I guess I'd say it's a DECENT gun...within the first 50 rounds of firing it a little jagged retainer pin that holds the bolt release button in place popped out causing the whole mechanism to fall out at the range. I contacted mossberg customer service and it took them 5 months to send me a tiny little pin leaving me with a large paper weight for almost half a year...I'd also like to add that iv had to replace the shell follower with an after market wolf follower. Prior to that, I could only load all 7 shells about 2 out of 10 times because aparently the follower would get stuck on the magazine tube extension causing the follower to get jammed sometimes only letting me load 5 rounds. Mossberg sent me a new extension tube but nothing fixed the problem until I upgraded it to the wolf spring and follower. After all the issues were worked out iv got to say that this gun has ran everything iv thrown at it from 3 inch mag slugs to low recoil bird shot with no issues at all. When you buy a gun for 600 you shouldn't have to do all that bs in order for it to run properly. Although It runs fine now, I just can't fully trust my life to it. I think I'll be selling it and getting a 590a1 soon. My advise is if you want a semi auto shotgun for home/self defense, save your money, get a benelli m4...buds was awesome as they always are, buying another gun from them as we speak :)

This is a terrific shotgun. The build quality is good for this price point, and Mossberg builds some of the most reliable weapons anywhere. I have had mine about a month now and it has performed very well. Now for the issues ( only a couple) although I really like the sights, the front sight on my particular weapon is not indexed correctly making it sit slightly to the left as you sight down the barrel.Fixable but I shouldn't have to.
The other complaint is that Mossberg has not yet seen fit to offer a barrel shroud for this model, and the one for th 500 will not fit (I tried). And last but not least,I bought mine from another vendor for $629 because I hadn't discovered Buds yet.Great gun and I'm quite pleased with it,pick one up,you won't be sorry! :)

As usual Bud's met my expectations. Only thing is when I received my SPX930 it had some rust on it and the rear site lug was striped out.

Sure you can Brandon. Al you have to do is locate and buy the after market parts/accessories you want to install. I will say, it is much easier to 'customize' a pump gun, though, as there are more after market choices available as far as parts and accessories.
