Great gun! Everything I expected!

This was my 2nd purchase from Buds and it was, again, a smooth and fast process. As far as the Colt Defender 9mm, I took it to the range and ran 300 rounds thru it with no problems at all. I love the trigger, the grip and overall look and feel of the gun. That said, had I fired the gun before I bought it, I probably wouldn't have spent almost $900.00. It's a great gun that does what it's supposed to, but it seems overpriced for a 9 round carry piece when there are so many other quality options for far less money.

Just got back from the range.I have one word to describe my experience, WOW! Ordered the gun Wednesday and got it Friday afternoon. It ran 100% reliable. As a matter of fact, it ran like a sowing machine. To name a few 1911's I've owned Charles Daily, Rock Island, Springfield and Dan Wesson, this is by far the best, first time outing I've had out of them all, with the Springer and DW a close second. Mine shoots point of aim less than on inch to the left @12 yards and that was my fault. The weapon was very easy to field strip with no tools needed. After I get a few hundred more 100% reliable rounds through it, it will be my main carry piece. I would recommend this to all who love and appreciate the 1911platform!

My purchase of this item from Buds Gun Shop went very well. Although the shipment tracking process was difficult I attribute it to the holiday season and high volume. This is a great pistol, shoots easy and is as accurate as the shooter. I would reccommend both Buds and this product very highly.

The 9mm Colt Defender is a very solid small pistol, but it's also upgradeable to make it even better. What I had my gunsmith install is a Cylinder & Slide CS0214 3.5 lb Ultra Light Trigger kit, TruGlo tritium night sights, Smith & Alexander stainless flat checkered compact magwell, Pearce finger groove underlayment and a beautiful set of blue/black LOK SpecOps G10 grips. Now it's a real night stalker and a sheer pleasure to shoot. 9mm in a compact 1911 is a great match. This is an excellent pistol to shoot "as is" or to upgrade to a true custom-tuned tack-driver.

I just got the gun yesterday, and as usual Buds always comes through shipping fast.
The gun looked good, cleaned it, oiled it and took it to the range today, with some reservations because I had heard that 1911's in 9mm had some issues.
I put 200 rounds and had 0 malfunctions at all, The gun is amazing!!!!,
I have several Kimbers, Dan Wessons, and Springfields, and this little gun is amazing and very accurate, and a pleasure to shoot.
I have never shot a 9mm 1911 before, and I can only say WOW Colt really got it right!!!,

First, let me say that the only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the cheap rubber wrap-around grip it comes with -- I hated it. For some reason Colt now thinks it's necessary to stake their bushings. So I spent $100 on new grip and gunsmith work.
But now let me say that this is one sweet pistol -- I love it. I've put 500 rounds through it without one malfunction. I can't say that for many other guns that I own. Plus I find it to be very accurate and just a joy to shoot -- plus it's just a fine looking pistol. With those thin grips it really feels good in my hand. Colt would probably sell a lot more of these if they'd put a decent grip on it.

What a sweetie!
A friend has a Defender in .45acp, but I've wanted one in 9mm for a long time.
I much prefer this design in 9mm because of how it handles in 9mm compared to 45acp.
Buds did good & Colt did great with this one. Fit and finish are excellent, but I confess that the first thing I did when it arrived was to change out the bulky wraparound grip it came with for a set of thin cocobolo grips like those that come on the blue New Agent.
This one's a long term keeper.

I'd been waiting for the defender in 9mm specifically to come in stock for awhile. When I saw it was, I placed it on layaway and had it paid within a month. Once the order hit Buds shipping department, it shipped the next day and was at my FFL three days later. The pictured Colt Defender 9mm shows a different slide cut on the forward end, similar to the New Agent. What I received looks exactly like the 45acp Defender pictured on this site, this 9mm doesn't have that forward slide cut. Not a huge deal but just for those interested to know. I like this one better so I gladly accepted the transfer. The price dropped sharply after I placed my order so after making a claim with BuySafe, they've got a check in the mail to me for the difference. After a good cleaning, this little Colt is a beauty. The included Hogue grips are ugly as all get out but they feel great in the hand. I have slightly larger than normal hands and could get all fingers on the grip. Slide to frame fit is pretty tight, tighter than my Wiley Clapp Commander which costs significantly more. I'm sure it'll loosen up a bit as it gets more rounds down the pipe. After 150 rounds of assorted ball and jhp ammo, there were no issues to speak of. Sight picture is very easy to see and recoil is...well it's only a 9mm, easy to handle. There is some creep in the trigger however it still has a clean break. All in all, Buds was great and I'm happy to have added this little 1911 to my collection.

Fantastic gun. Great for use as CCW. After firing over 200 rounds thru it it runs like a top. There were some FTE issues in the first 50 rounds but the more work it gets the better it works. Only had a couple FTEs after the first 100 rounds. I would recommend this weapon.
