Although all ammo has become too damned expensive, this crimped birdshot is far superior to the kind with the blue plastic shell over the shot & I was really glad to find it.

I've only had these about a week or two and only fired once against a cottonmouth. The snake got within 10 yards of my dog run and could not be persuaded to head the other way. one shot from about a yard away using a Taurus TX 22 put him down. Heck yes, these are handy to have around - now I keep one clip loaded with birdshot just in case.

I had to wait a long time for this ammo, but as always, Buds came through. I really like Federal ammo, especially the way this rat shot is manufactured. I don't care for the munitions that have the plastic shot cup. Just my personal preference.

I use a Remington model 572 pump action smooth bore to fire these cartridges. The round has #12 iron shot and is extremely effective in the range that I from, around 25-50' on small varmints such as squirrels. How ever the ejector has a hard time grasping the rim and jams. Other .22LR rounds don't have the same issue. Since the round has a crimped brass tip it does have a slight roughness to the end of the cartridge that may cause it ti stick in the chamber. Other than that I really like the round as a definite kill round.
