While the new OPTIMA V2 shares the name of its popular predecessor, the “Version 2” gun has a completely different design in many ways. Modeled after CVA’s top-of-the-line ACCURA V2, the OPTIMA V2 features the same trigger-guard actuated breeching lever, internal parts, and “neutral center-of-gravity” trigger. Add in CVA’s Quick Release Breech Plug (which is finger removable without any tool what-so-ever), 100% ambidextrous stock, and CrushZone recoil pad, and you’ve got a gun with more quality features than any other muzzleloading rifle in its price range. Equipped with a 26” 416 grade stainless steel barrel, the OPTIMA V2 is easy to maneuver in the tree stand and comfortable to carry in the mountains.

I purchased this muzzle loader for our upcoming muzzle loader deer season, I have yet to fire this rifle, but all looks and feels great. I really like the breach plug, easy to remove without tools, the sights are clear and bright (here in California, scopes are prohibited on muzzle loaders unless visually disabled) so having fiber optic sights is helpful. I will try to remember to come back and either edit or leave an updated review after I get to sight it in.

Good rifle, but the sights on it are way low. Even maxing out how high to make the sights, I got it to shooting 6in low at 75 yards. Better than the initial 20 inches low, but still, wish it performed better. Only way I got it to shoot right was with a normal scope. So, if you are planning on using the iron sights? Use a real hot load.

This guns quality and capabilities at it's price point is terrific. In a time when you get what you pay for it's nice to see a manufacturer step it up and push expectations. This guns only flaw to me is it's rear sight. Most folks go scope anyhow but I replaced mine with a good peep sight rail and might scope it later. Great shooter. Received item very quickly. Thanks.
