The SPHINX SDP Subcompact Alpha is the smallest and lightest of the SDP line up of pistols. The Subcompact Alpha is the perfect choice for concealed carry, or professional duty use, with an overall weight just under 25oz and an overall height and width at 4.9” and 1.2” respectively.  Though the SDP Subcompact Alpha is small in stature it does not sacrifice in quality or performance.Through precision machining and hand fitting by a master gunsmith, the SDP Subcompact Alpha can achieve similar groupings to that of its larger counterpart, the Compact Alpha. The Subcompact Alpha shares more than just high performance figures with the larger pistols in the Alpha line.It also features a steel slide machined from billet. The upper frame, machined from billet aluminum, features full length internal guide rails which provide very smooth slide operation as well as solid barrel lock up.The pistol grip is polymer and textured for maximum ergonomics and grip. The pistol grip is also contoured to offer high hand placement to compliment the low bore axis, which assist the shooter with managing recoil.  Ambidextrous features include the decocking lever and a magazine release that can be switched to either side. The slide release lever also serves as the take-down pin and is located on the left side of the Subcompact Alpha. The white dot front sight is easy to see in contrast to the black rear sight. The competition inspired trigger is very smooth, in both double and single action mode, with a clean break and short, crisp, reset.Every component of the SDP Subcompact is manufactured to the highest standards and tolerances are extremely tight.Defined by precision, the Subcompact Alpha is the only choice for discerning shooters that demand the utmost in build quality and performance.

Bought this pistol because I love CZ pistols and I thought the Swiss would knock it out of the park. The pistol has a blemish on the right side decocker. I contacted the company and asked if they would send me a new decocker, unfortunately they wanted me to return the handgun. I personally like to do my own gunsmithing, so i'm stuck with a flawed decocker due to my own stubbornness .Trigger is excellent on this pistol , not a fan of the sights, feels like a mini tank in your hand. Overall nice gun with a blemish.

This is the third Sphinx I have purchased, the first one I bought was the 15 round Alpha with the polymer grip the second was the 17 round black duty with the full aluminum lower grip. I always wanted the subcompact 13 round and in my opinion i feel more comfortable carrying it being lighter and smaller than the other two, all three of them are very accurate and flawless. There's just something about a Sphinx whether you're just holding it in your hand admiring it or shooting it for some reason they feel special, they look like a work of art, all three of them that I have gotten look as cleanly machined inside as they do on the outside, they are beautiful handgun. Excellent triggers with single action being very light and a very short reset. I have approximately 7 to 800 rounds through the subcompact without any problems, if you choose to purchase the sub compact for carry you can go to the Kriss USA website and purchase a holster made by Safariland for $49 I was impressed when I received the holster which comes with a paddle or you can switch it over to a belt slide option it comes with a suede lining inside and a release lever which locks the gun inside as it snaps in and releases easily when you remove it to draw it's a nice package with both, I do have to say after purchasing all three handguns from Sphinx the subcompact is my favorite because of the versatility. When I carry it I load it with Liberty civil defense ammunition, they are super light grain 2000 feet per second rounds when loaded in the magazine they feel like half the weight of most other ammunition, I've noticed buds doesn't carry this gun all the time but if you're interested in one and you do locate one I think most anybody would probably appreciate it as much as I do and others I've let shoot it, out of all of the handguns I have had and do have this one is up there with the very best. If you pick one up and hold it you might just buy it, that's what happened to me when I saw a used one, I came home that day immediately afterwards and put it on layaway with buds.

This is by far my favorite pistol. The tolerances are so tight you can expect to put a couple of hundred rounds through it to break it in. Once done, it is like a fine tuned race car. Easy to shoot. Easy to take apart and assemble for cleaning purposes. Exceptionally easy to control and accurate . I now have at least 2000 rounds through it without a single glitch since break in period. A perfect choice for a carry pistol.

I purchased a Sphinx subcompact at a good price from Bud's. First day on the range with the new Sphinx, I fired one round and the Sphinx jammed. I had to take the slide off and pry the round from the chamber. I Put the Sphinx back together, attempted to rack rounds through it and again it jammed to the point I had to remove the slide, and pry the live round out .Called Kriss USA and returned the weapon at my expense. I also requested they look at the poor finish on the slide. The Sphinx was retuned and they claim they had replaced the recoil spring. They also polished the ramp and chamber but did not document the work. The failure to finish and polish the ramp and chamber, caused the jamming. They did not repair the finish on the slide. I spoke again to Kriss USA and retuned the slide. They replaced the slide due to the poor finish. After receiving the slide back, I went back to the range and the Sphinx jammed again in battery, so tight, I had to manipulate the slide to get it back in to battery to fire the weapon. I again returned the Sphinx to Kriss USA and they sent the Sphinx back with a new barrel. After the 3rd return and $100 dollars in shipping, they properly finished building it. The Sphinx shots well, and is a nice weapon, but this is not what I expected from a company that advertises a high quality weapon. I rate the finished Sphinx, as good, but the process to get it to that point, BAD.
