this is a good deal, very satisfied with the pistol and accessories; I've waited for years to make this first black powder firearm purchase and it hit right where I expected after much research; it's made by Pietta, and honestly, I don't understand why some people regard this company as inferior - it's a pieta!; what you get for the price point of this package is great for beginners like me, and from it you can learn what matters to you in future purchases; that's called the ignorance tax; firearm is solidly built and looks/feels historically accurate for this layman, purists may quibble; couldn't put it down for the first 48 hours; a few observations are in order - the brass will oxidize (patinate) once you open the package and start handling it (this is normal and good), completely disassemble the pistol and clean it before firing (Pietta ships it with the grit and grime of manufacturing), and carefully use the nipple tool to remove, clean, and re-install the nipples before using or it may not fire some cylinders; I have bought and built many modern firearms, this one has captured my attention

Despite the picture this is in fact the brass framed Remington New Model Army repro. Great entry-level cap-and-ball as long as you keep the powder charges moderate per the instructions. The brass frames get a bad rap for shooting loose over time but that's greatly exaggerated and takes many years of regular shooting to manifest. If you're just looking to dabble into percussion revolvers this is a good place to start. Like most corners of the shooting hobby; if you find you like it, it'll end up multiplying and the next thing you know you'll own half a dozen different percussions anyway.
