Great revolver, really surprised how accurate it is with the fixed sights. Since this pistol has 7 1/2 barrel, weight is all forward but that helps with recoil with hot 357. No function problems, cylinder locks up tight. Real pleased. Buds ordering and shipping were smooth as usual.

I'm not the best writer in the world, but just let me say that this is a GREAT pistol!!!! It's very well made. There were no blemishes at all on the frame or walnut handle. Has a very smooth action. I will say that it is a heavy gun; I think it's almost three pounds. But that helps it to fire very smoothly, as there is very little recoil. If you've never owned a single action pistol before, I would suggest investing the $15 to buy some snap caps and spending a day or so just getting to know how it feels and operates. All in all, I am very, very pleased with this gun.

Had the gun for a month and already preparing to send it back for repair. The cyclinder will not lockup all the time and hammer fall between chambers.

I am very disappointed. This is the first gun that I have ever written a bad review on.
When it first arrived, it was very beautiful and felt very solid.
But on the range, every few shots, the cylinder would seize up on me. I would have to take the cylinder out, unload the cylinder, and painstakingly put the cylinder back in for it to function.
While having to take the cylinder out, I sliced my finger open on one of its sharp parts. Carbon and oil was getting into my cut.
I am done shooting this, and I wish I could get my money back.

I did a lot of homework before making this purchase. I reviewed lots of information from owners of the Pietta vs. Uberti-made Colt replicas. I know they are both fine revolvers well worth their relatively low cost. I wanted a seven and half inch barrel .357 though it will see mostly .38 Specials. Based on what I gleaned the Pietta has a slightly better trigger and that was a clincher for me. I can tell you the action in my newly acquired Pietta is noticeably smoother than my 1958-made Colt second generation SAA in the same chambering with a slightly lighter trigger pull as well. The revolver functions as it should and the accuracy is better than I expected and equal to other single-action revolvers in the inventory including a Ruger New Model Blackhawk and the Colt SAA. The only concern I had was the gap between the cylinder and the forcing cone as it appeared a bit large. However measuring is reveled a .006 inch gap which many claim is just about right for this type of revolver. Indeed it's consistent with many others I own but for some reason it "looked" large. By the way I own two Uberti replicas, one is a Remington 1858 cap & ball, and a "reduced size" .32-20 SAA replica revolver, and I like both of them very much, they are holding up well after good use, so don't hesitate if your research indicates an Uberti may fit your requirements better. The fit and finish on the Pietta Bud's recently delivered is outstanding, better by a bit than my 1958 Colt, the loading gate fits so seamlessly it disappears when closed, and the grip panels fit perfectly. Remember this is a load one, skip one, load four revolver requiring the hammer rest on an empty chamber if you intend to carry it anywhere.

This is an exalt value. You get a gun that has the look, feel and operation of a real Colt 1873 for only half the price of a Colt. I recommend it to anyone who has interest in American history, old west history or just enjoys classic firearms.

"We recommend that you shoot only standard over the counter ammunition that meet SAMMI specifications, http://www.saami.org/.
Shooting any ammo like +P or reloads will void the warranty on the gun.
Cimarron Firearms does not have any plans to make any guns that shoot +P ammunition."

A:David, this one depends on when the pistol was manufactured. Recent models have gone to the Floating Firing Pin 3 - Click feature. I would call Cimarron Customer Service with the UPC code to verify at 1877-SIXGUN1 -- (1877-749-4861).See 2 more answers |
