Bersa makes an outstanding handgun, Have never had a problem with any of the ones I have, and I have one in each cal.the 380 and 22 are exactly the same so practice with the 22 and use the cheaper ammo,, the Thunder 22 needs good ammo to work well, I use CCI stinger.

A well made and decently accurate .22 rimfire for 'knockaround' use. Inspired by Skeeter Skelton's 1971 article titled "PPK/s: A peerless Performer" I started looking for something similar and quickly found that prewar Walther PPK/s rimfires like Skeeter carried cost too much. The current rimfire Walthers use zinc diecast construction and seem to be reasonably priced and well liked, but I had a zinc receiver .22 rifle crack a few years back, so a Zamak alloy gun is just not what I was looking for. The Walther-inspired Bersas cost about the same, have a good online reputation for reliability with the right ammunition and are steel and aluminum construction like the 3rd generation S&Ws. I also liked the nickel finish option to ward off corrosion from the inevitable perspiration exposure of farm chores during a midwestern summer.

The internet consensus on the types of high velocity ammo to pick for reliability seems like good info for me so far, but I did not find much accuracy data online. So I tested some of the recommended brands and here are the results in my gun. All testing at 25 yards indoors, elbows rested using recent long rifle ammunition.

CCI Blazer 40 grain 4.38" average 5 shot groups, 1/2" under point of aim (2 targets)
CCI Mini MAG 40 grain 2.22" average 5 shot groups 1/2" under point of aim (2 targets)
CCI Mini MAG 36 grain HP 3.25" 10 shot group 2" above point of aim (1 target)
CCI Velocitor 40 grain HP 4.25" 10 shot group 2" above point of aim (1 target)
Remington Golden Bullet 36 grain HP (bulk pack) 2.67" average 5 shot groups 1/2" under point of aim (3 targets)

Winchester M22 bulk scattered too much for me - not measured.

Anything that groups under 2.5" at 25 yards in a carry-size autoloader makes me happy, and the CCI 40 grain Mini MAGs are there. I was surprised that the Remington Golden Bullets got close to the mark and with a sandbag rest would likely meet that accuracy standard. I read somewhere that Remington recently stepped up the Golden Bullet quality, so I'll probably shoot a lot of those too. Reliability was 100% as long as I didn't let my fat right thumb ride the slide. No misfires.

I like the windage adjustment and it only took a few right clicks to center my groups. Trigger was decent with 4.5 pounds single action and 8.5 pounds double action using a Timney pull gauge. Fit and finish were good and I like the orange dot sights on the nickel model.

If my Bersa is a representative sample, I think the Thunder 22 is a darn fine "knockaround rimfire" for the money and Skeeter would probably agree.

A great gun. I am a big fan of the Thunder line. This particular model has two features I really like. 1. The gun has three RED dots for the sights. I think these are easier to pick up than the traditional white dots. 2. The silver cerakote on the frame is a perfect match with the nickel coating on the slide. Looks great! Pictures of earlier guns showed a distinct difference in shading which I thought did not look as good. I ordered the gun wondering if I would like the finish. Am very happy with the appearance of my pistol. Shoots great too! Another great Bersa product. Highly recommend!

Very reasonable in price. Fun shooter and fairly accurate. It is a popular gun and spare magazines are virtually impossible to find. No one seems to have them in stock. My handgun seemed to shoot CCI mag rounds perfectly . I fired some Amscor rounds with no problem as well. .22 is always fun to shoot because of the no recoil.i personally like the idea of a deco key on a handgun.

I really wanted to like this gun and I kinda did, but even with cci mini mags or better... It wasn't satisfactory in the reliability department. W

Great little gun! It’s not my first Bersa and won’t be my last. Also received it from Buds very fast. Don’t remember exact days but I think it was only three days. Have purchased from Buds before and will continue with them. Excellent product and service.

The Bersa Thunder 22 is a fantastic handgun. I have put over 100 rounds through it without any issues. When I am looking for a firearm I rely on Buds for the best deal and as always I do get the best deal. Thanks Buds

I'm very pleased with the 22 pistol,as I purchased the 380 version of the pistol at the same time, and the 22 is identical. I intended to use the 22 for less expensive practice, but find it to be a fun and accurate gun to shot. My only problem is that my wife has claimed this gun for herself and I don't get much shooting time for myself. We have shot 300 to 400 rounds so far.

I love the Thunder Series of Bersa, in 22lr and 380 acp. I have and can afford any pistol. And have other auto's that I enjoy. The Bersa in 22lr has become one of them. I purchased two from Bud's so my daughter would have one. Bud's is a great place to order from, they have a very good shipping operation.
