Is the 9mm cylinder plus p rated?

Hi Jesse and welcome. For safety and warranty reasons, the Pietta 1873 revolver chambered in .357 Magnum is designed to handle standard factory loads and should not be used with "heavy loads" or loads exceeding factory specifications. Cheers and stay safe!

There seems to be a controversy on whether or not you can have six rounds loaded and not being safe. Could you tell me if this gun is safe holding 6 rounds and how if so what is the safety mechanism (transfer bar or floating pin). Should you not know where can I get information.

Hi Fred and welcome. Hi Fred, this specific model has the original COLT 4 Click operation. No Transfer Bar or Floating Firing Pin. 5 round carry recommended so the hammer/firing pin is not resting on the primer of a live round. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!

Is this a great western too revolver with refined Hammer pull and trigger pull like the Californian which has a very light hammer and trigger like it has been worked at the factory? If everyone has this model and another two compared to would you say it is refined in that area?

Looks better than expected. Fit and finish are excellent. Function was perfect with the first 50 rounds. Trigger pull could be a bit lighter but is smooth. Color case hardened frame looks great. Shoots to point of aim. The only thing I would change is to make the groove in the cylinder pin fully circular instead of a flat on one side only to make assembly easier. This is a great deal for the money.

Beautiful gun, well made Colt clone. The action is smooth and feels as if it’s been factory tuned, nicer than a recent made Uberti I have. Grips fit nicely but are on the plain side and I’ll be replacing them. The biggest “con” is the double notched safety base pin, which is first unnecessary and second very difficult to remove. The 9mm cylinder is awesome, allowing cheap practice shooting. Overall a very nice pistol at a good price from Bud’s.

I got the conversion because of the option to shoot a low cost ammo but still have a knock down kick ass 357 to do serious shooting. Fit and finish is right up there with the best. This is one that will be passed down for generations. Oh yea, it’s also a blast to shoot. Thanks Buds
