The Hornady Heavy Magnum Coyote shotgun loads deliver lethal results and minimal pelt damage out to 50 yards. Loaded with 1.5 ounces of nickel plated lead shot in your choice of either a BB or 00 buckshot offering, these 3 inch, 12 gauge shotshells are the perfect answer for close range predators. Both loads feature the Hornady Versatite wad that strips cleanly from the shot string for excellent pattern density and a short shot column for maximum effect on target.

I have had trouble with coyotes in the past. My cousin in Ohio told me about these 12 gauge shells and he swears by them. I thought the price was really good and they were shipped to me very quickly. If I have to use them, perhaps I can edit this review and and give you an update.

This was purchased for a customer. He had nothing but praise regarding how well these loads take down coyotes at close range. He also stated they do not give him feed issues in his gun which is why he changed from the last brand.

Works ok at closer distances. Shot a few at 40 or so yards and it didn't drop them

I shoot these in a Remington 870. The improved modified choke appears to have the best pattern at 40 yards. I usually have around 16 pellets in a 9" circle and the pattern appears even. With the coyote tube that was made for BB and #4 buck I had a terrible pattern. I have not shot a coyote yet, but these should do the job and have a good punch to them.

After running these through a modified choke out of a 12 ga Remington 1100 and a 12 ga Hatson Escort Magnum, I was more than pleased with the pattern.
Watching the impact of these when they hit a coyote at 40 yards is unreal.
I've dropped a few at 50 yards and there was no tracking involved. I don't know about much further due to the fact that I typically hunt in the timber and I'm not able to get clear shots much further. My typical shots are 20 - 30 yards and these Hornady's perform flawless.

Does not pattern well for me. I patterned this load along with several other loads. Guns tested were an 870 remington and 930 mossberg jm pro. Although I have not shot this load at coyotes yet I was not pleased on paper. 1 tip for this load is shoot with a modified or improved choke. For long distance (40 yds.) Or more I would shoot a competitor's bb or 4 buck over this product.
