Replaces the rear sight leaf and the receiver’s bolt cover on the Kalashnikov assault rifle, 1947 model (AK-47) and its variants. AKARS upgrade allows effective neutralization for many of the AK weapon system's traditional limitations. Once installed the AKARS allows the user to mount weapon optics utilizing the 1913 Picatinny Rail design (MIL-STD-1913 rail or STANAG 2324 rail, NATO) as a primary targeting solution, retain the mounted optic’s targeting zero after extensive firing and field stripping of the weapon and maintain the ability to use iron sights as a secondary targeting solution by way of the built-in rear sight aperture on the AKARS. Do not hesitate to buy this if you own an AK! I was between this and the TWS, and after a lot of research and deductive reasoning, I decided that the AKARS was the way to go. After 1000 or so rounds, I'm very impressed. Not once, has this thing lost my zero...flown off...or even slightly moved around. It holds my EOtech just fine, but there is no room for the magnifier. If you want to run this setup, I'd advise using a smaller optic like the Aimpoint micro styled ones. Gun cleaning is exactly like cleaning a stock AK. Get it...you won't regret this purchase.
