This versatile firearm provides for an easy transition from blackpowder to centerfire cartridges. The gun's original frames were dovetailed to allow the ejector assembly to slide into place. A loading-lever screw, passing through from the left side of the frame, secures the ejector assembly. A small notch cut into the loading lever creates a rest for the L-shaped tip of the ejector rod. The firearm is steel with steel backstrap and brass trigger guard.

Great fit & finish to this conversion reproduction. Perfect hammer pull & 2 lb 8 oz trigger is very smooth. Purchased additional cylinder from Taylor's, just to do a Clint Eastwood "Pale Rider" style reload (even though an 1861 is actually used in the movie). Plunger & Loading lever manipulation to perform a cylinder change takes practice, but it's fun and easy to shoot. Purchasing a firearm through Bud's Gun Shop has been a great, easy experience. Love their cash price discounts. Can't go wrong buying from them. Thanx

SA is an acquired taste, not for everyone. Revolvers don't make sense if you really like to spray a lot of lead at the range or wherever you shoot. I have shot many thousands of pistol rounds from autos, and my favorite pistol is a S&W model 586, in 357 mag, 6inch extended lug target version. This reproduction 45 colt is my first colt 45, despite having several 45 ACP, some for 35 yrs., I'm really anxious to get to the range to shoot this one, its so beautiful. I had 2 six guns as a kid, and never really got over this cowboy thing, now I'm going to indulge. It will fit right in as I belong to the SASS peoples range in rural New Mexico, and they're always around in their full bore cowboy gear. Its a different kind of experience than blasting away with AR's and AK's, for sure. Taylors has done a really nice job in recreating these old guns with a modern cartridge and nice attention to detail. I want to get an open-top Army next. of course from Bud's as they are the best online firearms people, safe to deal with, and very customer focused.

The gun came in excellent condition. No issues with fit or finish. The action operates well. The grip is a little short for someone with big hands but other wise a very nice reproduction.

Beautiful pistol, great price. No issues with shipping or the dealer when I picked up pistol. I look forward to shooting this baby. I think it’s quite likely I’ll be a returning customer.

This is the coolest gun! I've drooled over it for months and finally bought it after the go ahead from the wife. It comes ready to take .45LC and loads like a modern revolver. Because it can go from cartridge to black powder, the level is still attached, which means to eject the rounds you have to open the lever to get to the ejector rod. I only have two criticisms: first is that the ejector rod does not have a spring on it so you have to push and pull the rod each time you eject the round. The second thing is that the pin that holds the cylinder in place is held by the lever beneath the barrel, so when I go to eject a round, I have to pull down the lever. This means that not only the ejector rod is free, but also the pin that holds the cylinder. I have to hold the cylinder pin in place whenever I eject rods. However, these are small complaints. The gun is BEAUTIFUL! and shoots smooth and accurately. I shot 60 rounds with it right out of the box and had no problems hitting targets at 33 yards dead center. Buds was awesome and the price can't be beaten. I bought two of these are the same time and they cost only $200 more than if I was to buy ONE of these guns on another site. The gun to to the FFL dealer the same week I ordered it too, so I was able to get everything in one week. Love it!

yes it shoots .45 Long colt cartridges or .44 cal Black powder "This Remington Conversion is a perfect reproduction from the historic period when popular black powder revolvers were being converted into cartridge revolvers. Although manufactured as a an already converted cartridge revolver now by Uberti, these copies still feature an easy transition from blackpowder to centerfire cartridges on the .45LC caliber models. The Remington Conversion in .45LC allows a shooter to switch from .45LC to .44 black powder by removing the breech plate, cartridge cylinder, and replacing them both with a spare black powder cylinder (available as a spare part from Taylor's A1014005). Along with the original conversion design, these revolvers retain other original features: the forged frames are dovetailed to allow the loading gate assembly to slide into place and a modern ejector rod incorporated into the original black powder loading lever with a small notch cut into the loading lever itself. The revolvers are available with a two-piece walnut grip, octagonal barrel, blued finish, and brass triggerguard ." http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/hand-guns/cartridge-revolvers/1858-remington-conversion.html
