Ruger American Rimfire Compact Threaded Barrel 22 Long Rifle Bolt Action Rifle - Blue/Black, 18" Barrel, 10+1 Rounds, Synthetic Stock

I wanted a bolt action for my grand daughter to shoot before she shoot militery rifles(M1 carbine, 03 Springfeild, 30 caliber M1). I did put militery sights on it for her, but it a great rifle and the compact size fits her well.

This is a neat bolt action .22 rifle that I don’t think gets enough attention. It users the Ruger 10/22 magazines which are very common and if you have a 10/22 this is neat for a change of pace or your Ruger collection. The action is smooth as I have found with all the American rifles and it’s pretty accurate. My one and only complaint is that they did not include a picatinny scope base. I personally feel for the money that should have been included. Also it’s taken Shop Ruger a little bit to ship me one. Other than that the rifle is great and fun.

Perfect 22 bolt gun. Light weight, inexpensive, accurate and threaded barrel to boot. Throw a suppressor on it and use some subsonic 22lr and it is quieter than an air rifle. Definitely a "buy this now" type of rifle. Perfect starter rifle for youngins too.

Bought this rifle back in April and so far it's been every bit as good as I hoped it would be. I equipped mine with a set of Tech Sights as this was planned to be a new shooter training/appleseed rifle. I don't shoot iron sights a lot but the rifle performs very well for me and I think it can probably shoot better than I can, but that's why I practice. I highly recommend this rifle as well as any of the American Rimfire series to anyone looking for a fun plinking or small game gun.

Purchased online and picked up Buds nearby in Lexington, KY Buds 5 STAR SERVICE. Purchased rifle for use as short range around farm use. I wanted bolt due to ease of cleaning and multiple ammo type use. The 12 1/2 length of pull is what I prefer at 5'9" I still use13" in summer clothes and 12 1/2 in winter. The Fiber Optic front sight is what I also required. I put fiber optic on all my open sight long guns (great for older eyes). list of features and ratings by feature below Stock 5 STAR= plastic but very well designed feels sturdy and good grip, the additional cheek rise will be needed if scope ever needed. Sling stud installed. Bolt 5 STAR= solid, tight well designed. Magazine 5 STAR= uses the time proven 10/22 Barrel 5 STAR= Blue is very good quality, I got the threaded option excellent 1/2 x 28 threads. Rear Sights 5 STARS= Excellent design and use, good up/down adjustment, side (left/right) adjust as needed with TAPE to barrel and Brass punch. The fold down on rear is nice very good system if needed. Front Sight 4 STARS= The sight itself is 5 STAR fast on target tall enough for sound suppessor. The problem is in Ruger's attachment of the good sight. Upon arrival front sight was loose, I removed to apply lock tight and noticed only one bolt held entire sight no roll pin or dimple to keep it from rotating. (This needs to be addressed by RUGER) The same notch in barrel as rear would be nice sturdy way to secure sight. I tightened the screw very tight and the threads held up (good steel). If I have problem again I will drill barrel and ancor with short roll pin. Accuracy 4 STAR= I have put 100 rounds testing and sighting in also used bore sighter. The rifle using its preferred ammo shoots a little to right while was fixed with rear sight adjustment it is slightly annoying to me. Ammo= CCI mini mags HP36 gr. best general use, I use Subsonic for noise (shoot inside barn for skunks possums ect,) The best round I found ELY SUBSONIC HP 40gr. 1050fps deadly and shoots straight. OVERALL for the money this is a very nice gun for the money and I would buy it again. I giving it overall 4 stars due to front sight attachment ( its needs same solid style as rear sight)

Ruger has done it again. The company has been incredible in producing or altering their product line in response to what their customers wanted. I've always wanted a bolt action 10/22 but the 77/22 was way out of my price range. The american rimfire has now been updated with a threaded barrel, and I shoot it suppressed with a silencerco sparrow. I also put a boyds stock on it and a nikon rimfire scope. All together, it is quickly becoming my favorite gun to shoot. Huge pros to the firearm: - the trigger is really good, I took it down to the lightest point and it's my nicest trigger of all my firearms. I also have a volquartsen mark III and it's right up there with it. - The scope is mounted so low to the receiver but the bolt handle gets by anyway - The action is very smooth, cycling does not interfere with my sight picture at all - uses the same magazines as a 10/22 So far no downsides. This guy is my silent scalpel for doing quiet precision work.
