Great and solid small revolver for concealed carry!

Ruger LCR 9mm, I received it today, shot it and it felt a little recoil for being a compact and light weapon, but the rubber grip is comfortable and makes it manageable and easy to shoot. You can carry it in your pocket and have it as a backup weapon. I recommend it 100%

First of all, I have to say-for the last 35 years I thought "revolver" meant those two guys from Massachusetts-and "9mm" meant that Austrian fellow. But...as I grow older, the amount of weight I can carry has diminished...and I now find retracting the slide of a micro 9mm difficult and unpleasant. Enter the LCR 9mm. The trigger is a delight. Really. Ballistically, the 9mm beats .38 p by a huge margin. Ammunition is plentiful, and cheaper than any other centerfire round. Recoil is a little stout, but smoother than the .38 p J-frames I've owned. Can't describe it, but I find it easier to manage. And yes, it's worlds easier than a .357 magnum in a snubby. (Trust me, I've owned and shot an SP-101 and a steel .357 J-frame.) Ballistically, a test by a well known YT guy showed the LCR scored slightly HIGHER velocity than a G43 with the same JHP round... The lines of the LCR make it print less than my G43. Whether pocket carry or AIWB. Now, having said all of the above...even veteran revolver shooters will need to spend time familiarizing themselves with this gun. 1. Find the a load you like which also exhibits little or no "bullet pull." (Cheap 9mm will jump the crimp and the fifth round will show the bullet extruded from the case. Though I've never had one obstruct cylinder rotation.) 2. Spend time finding the EDC reload method best for you. I assumed the moon clips would be quick and easy reloads, but my experience is the rounds are too loose to line up with the charge holes quickly. And carrying spare moonclips is a pain-in your pocket they will actually allow a round to come loose. Or worse, partly loose-which makes a quick reload impossible. So, after experimentation, my solution is; a Glock 17 mag with 10 rounds. Easy and quick to thumb into the charge hole. Try it, you'll like it. And a Glock mag is simple to carry. Can you quickly dump the manually reloaded rounds after shooting them? Yes, but only if they are premium nickeled cases. Do not carry white box stuff. That's for the range. And nowadays this stuff is dirt cheap. So, that's my experience. No, it's not a Glock 19, but it is the best carry revolver I've found in decades of shooting.

Ruger has mastered this line of firearms. This is one of smoothest double action trigger pulls of any of my revolvers! The recoil is a bit snappy but it's manageable and still fun to shoot. Would make a great back up.

I’m very pleased with my LCR 9mm revolver it’s a perfect back up weapon.

Very cool pistol! I prefer the 9mm both because it's my preferred caliber and because the moon clips are so handy with loading and unloading. Really a great system. Very comfortable for AIWB, as the natural curve of the handgun seems to fit that area better than semi-autos that are more squared off. I also think there is something to be said for DAO for appendix carry. The longer trigger pull makes me a little more comfortable than having a semi-auto in that particular area of my body, but that's just my preference. I didn't care for the Hogue grip because the pinky finger doesn't fit on there, so I switched it out which is very easy with just one screw to deal with. There is some extra recoil with the 9mm in this size handgun, so that should be noted but it isn't extreme and I feel the LCR would do the job of protecting me if needed. I had read about crimp jump and I've experienced it as well. That 5th shot almost always jumps some, but they usually still fire. I've only had one completely fall out of the jacket. Shooting a lot with this handgun is tiring and becomes uncomfortable for me, but as I go I'll probably just send a few rounds through it for practice instead of using it for 30+ minutes each time.

You can't really beat the reliability of a wheel gun and the 9mm performs rather well despite the short barrel. I had originally considered the 357 Magnum variant but this gun really doesn't have the barrel length to take advantage of the capability of the round. Ballistically speaking (due to barrel length constraint) you get pretty much the same performance from this snubby using 9mm as you would the 357 only with much less recoil and flash. My favorite aspect of this gun is it's ability to be fired from a coat pocket if needed without any fear of jams. The fastest draw is no draw at all.

I don't use it for concealed carry but have played around with my CC holster and find it easy to stash and easy to handle. I love that it's 9mm. I have found 125 gr too hot for repeated use. When the gun gets hot (even from exposure to the sun) it becomes difficult to get the brass out. 115 gr seems to help, I haven't tried lower. At 10 yards it's pretty reliable for grouping ... longer distanced show a broader group which you'd expect. I also haven't tried for better precision with lower charges but I plan on trying that once reload supplies become a bit more available. I have big hands and was concerned that the small gun would be difficult to hold. It isn't as comfortable as a full sized gun but myself and shooting buddies all agree that it's a comfortable gun to hold and performs well for it's size.

I think it’s a little over priced

Eugene, overall recoil will be similar with the higher pressure 9mm recoil pulse being snappier/sharper. Both are still very controllable for this small a revolver.

No. The 380 is short enough that it will not properly head space and probably will not go off. If it does fire the case diameter is much less so it would split the case and hit you in the face and hands with hot brass and powder. Don't do it.
