Mossberg & Sons Patriot .308 Winchester Bolt Action Rifle - 22" Barrel, 5+1 Rounds, Synthetic

Nice rifle for the price would buy again .also have the same rifle in the 30-06 caliber by Mossberg that I purchased from buds gun shop.

The purchase was made easy. Being from IL I had to send a photo of my FOID card, got a respite the next day, my rifle came in after a week. No issues with it, only shot a few rounds with it. But over all logistics I’ll give it a A+, along with pricing, A+, I’m not a fan of the online chat for customer service, I had to wait 30 minutes before I actually chatted with a rep, so I’ll give that a B. I will be doing more business with Buds over all.

Couldn't be happier with my Mossberg. Well built and scope didn't take much to get accurate. Very smooth firing and ejection of cartridges.

After one month I finally got the opportunity to test fire this Mossberg. I was looking for a nice tough economical deer hunting gun & this is it. Ok the scope is not the best (I am removing it & replacing it with a 4-12 x 44 Vortex Crossfire 2) The scope that came with it is being put on a .22LR Remington "little critter" gun. Ok, the rifle right out of the box shot a nice tight grouping at 100 yards. It was one inch high & one inch to the right. (4 clicks on each scope and she was dead center) The bolt slides nice and gently, does not bind at all. The stock pad does an excellent job of cushioning the recoil. I chose this because of the Mossberg name. I have a Mossberg 500 shotgun & it has never disappointed...neither will the Patriot 22. For the money it is a GREAT gun!

I feel that some Mossberg products are underrated and this is one. This is a solid value for the money. Shoots great. Tight groups. Awesome for a deer rifle that you don't have to worry about it being a $1000 collectible that grandfather gave you. Heck, even the cheap scope is usable until you get a better one. I was surprised and very happy with the gun. Service from Buds was on par as usual.

Just received my Mossberg Patriot 308 rifle today and I will not have time to shoot it for a couple weeks so my review right now will be on gun appearance and the condition it was received in. , I was a little bemused as to why the bolt came disassembled. It was in 4 pieces and no instructions. In fact, the bolt head was still in the receiver! Then there was the striker assembly, the bolt assembly and the bolt head assembly pin all floating in the box. After I put everything back together the rifle appeared to be fine, but I was not very pleased with the gun coming in kit form. Now I can find nothing else on the scopes that come with these models to compare, but mine came with a Dead Ringer 9x4x40 scope and seems pretty cheap. From what I can find out , this scope sells retail street price for $36 and in most reviews I have read, many say they dont hold up well on rifles larger than 223. So if you take the Buds price Mossberg Patriot 308 without scope price for $296, and the price with scope I paid for it at $332, buying them together is no bargain as 296 $36 is $332. And, the scope is not even Bore-sighted and the screws were only finger tight. I guess being as they did include scope mounts, If I were to do it over again, I would buy the rifle without the scope. At least then I would know what scope I was getting. I am pleased with the bolt action which works very smooth and easy. The machining of the flutes on the bolt were a little rough, but nothing a few licks of 400 /- sandpaper cant smooth out. I doubt it would even make a difference beyond aesthetics as the flutes do not appear to actually ride on any surfaces. The stock seems light so it should be better for carrying in the field, but recoil might be more than expected, but it does appear to be reasonably sturdy. In closing, I would say my impression so far is that its a good rifle for the price , even though I have not shot it yet. At around $300 the rifle is worth it. I can not wait to shoot it.

Buds is always great to deal with. Shipping is fast and painless. The rifle itself is a must have if looking for something with versatile purposes. Shoots straight and long distance without any problems. I thought that with the size of the round it would kick like a mule but surprisingly it was not that bad. Put it this way for this rifle being this cheap in a 308 Winchester, it put a bullet right through a tree at 3 and a half foot in diameter. A must have in my opinion.
