The Range Queen I Didn’t Know I Needed... I’ve put thousands of rounds through a lot of striker-fired 9mms, but the FN 509 CC Edge XL is in a league of its own. From the moment I picked it up out of the box, I knew this thing was special. The full-size frame with the 4.2" barrel and 17+1 capacity gives it that perfect balance of control and capacity without feeling like a boat anchor. The grip texture is aggressive in all the right place. It's secure without chewing up your hand and the ergonomics are pure FN: Intuitive, comfortable, and ready to run hard right away. Right out of the box this pistol was phenomenal. Flat-shooting, soft-recoiling, and stupidly accurate even with the stock trigger. The optic-ready slide mated perfectly with my Trijicon RM06-C, and the dot sat right where I wanted it with zero fuss. I ran a couple hundred rounds before I even touched the upgrades, and I was already grinning ear to ear. Groups were laser-tight at 15 and 25 yards, and the gun just ate everything I fed it. From FMJ, hollow points, even some +P without a hiccup. The Edge XL has that “I can’t believe this is stock” feel that most guns only get after serious work. If you’re looking for a full-size 9mm that shows up ready to dominate the range (and still has plenty left for serious use), stop scrolling. The FN 509 CC Edge XL is the one.
