I purchased this Henry 22 mag small game lever gun from Bud's awesome shooter thinking about buying another !

This was my first experience with the Henry company although I was aware of their good reputation. This is a very fine rifle. I am quite pleased with it. It has a very solid feel and, although I just got it and have only fired it a few times, it gives the impression of robust durability and there seems to have been above average care and attention to detail in its design and manufacture. I own quite a few guns and I usually find some little thing that I want to tinker with and improve. This rifle is outstanding right out of the box. The trigger is superb. It breaks at just over 3 lbs. and there is absolutely no creep, stacking or mushiness, the classic "like breaking glass" trigger. I also appreciate the rigidity of a metal trigger. The trigger is grooved. My personal preference would be a smooth trigger but as crisp as it is the trigger texture hardly matters. I purchased this model, rather than other similar Henry rifles, because of the Skinner sights. I have installed Skinner sights on several of my other rifles and was familiar with their advantages. Skinner sights are rugged, don't shoot out of adjustment, and are both easy to use and effective. The tang mounted peep aperture allows for the longest possible sight radius which contributes to good accuracy. The sights were in proper adjustment as they came out of the box. The heavy, long (20.5 inches on this model) octagon barrel, coupled with the relatively light shooting 22 magnum cartridge, does away with any concerns about recoil or muzzle rise. This is a well mannered rifle, the smooth action, crisp trigger and excellent sights makes follow up shots a breeze. The wood is also quite nice, better than expected at this price point. The wood to metal fit is quite good, though not perfect, as I would expect for a rifle in this price category. If you have a need or desire for a rifle of this type, this is the one to get. I recommend it highly. It's a real shooter.

Great rifle from Henry. It shot high out of the box with the rear sight bottomed out, but I contacted Henry and they sent a higher front sight free of charge and now the rifle shoots dead on.

First firearm purchase. Smooth , timely and of course, great price.
The Henry with a small scratch in the stock, I called buds when I got to my FFL and buds offered to take it back.
My FFL reminded me Henry’s use real wood and sometimes these things happen in transport. Was I thrilled? No. However, it was small and the gun was beautiful. Action was like I just poured melted butter into it. Not even close to the Marlins or Winchester’s I own. This was a step above
Fired it. 5o yards open sites (the skinner is awesome) and I was putting rounds into the same hole. For real I’d say a 3 inch group of 13 with 4 or 5 all touching.
The recoil is “fun” and what to be expected from a 22 mag. With this barrel length I’m sure it’s in the 2000+ FPS and just devastatingly accurate. I’d have no issues taking this for hot using head shots.

This is a really nice little .22 WMR. The finish is excellent and the function is smooth right out of the box. The Skinner sights are one of the reasons I got this particular model as my aging eyes don't do very well with the more traditional open metallic sights. So far I've put about 200 rounds through the rifle. There have been no feed issues or any other malfunction. I did mount a scope on the rifle to see just how accurate it could be. The .22 WMR doesn't have a stellar reputation when it comes to accuracy and this rifle is no exception to that. I was able to get 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards with some brands of ammo (the old standard Winchester 40 grain jacketed hollow points). I even managed a 1.5 group at 100 yards but that was not the norm. My only beef with this fine rifle is the trigger. Its not uncommonly heavy but my particular trigger has a bit of creep and then a stop before firing. Its almost like a two stage trigger. Once you're use to it, you can actually use the creep to your advantage. I don't expect that "feature" is present on all Henrys - just this one. Overall I'm well pleased with my purchase. This rifle was purchased as a "walking around rifle" for woods hikes, etc. when its not necessarily any kind of hunting season. You never know when you might run into a coyote or some other pest/varmint.

Nice little 22 magnum.Want to give something that will make your kid or grand kid sit up and take notice. Great 1st. plinker or small game hunter, can't go wrong. I'm 63, and still get wood everytime I get it out. Buds is best in the business.
