I found this to be excellent target ammo shot out of a S&W 642, with manageable recoil impulse.

Shoots every time, which isn't remarkable for a .38 round, but according to Lucky Gunner, these have the highest fps of all the wadcutters, so I carry them as a defense round.

I became aware of Bud’s while watching “Hickok45.” I was having difficulty finding 38spl wadcutters and was excited to find them in stock at Bud’s! Easy to navigate website, no nonsense ordering process, and a timely delivery will keep me coming back to BUDSGUNSHOP.COM

Decided to try this ammo because of info I read on the Lucky Gunner site. Was looking for a decent performing low-recoil load. This one fit the bill. Penetration with 2" barrel averaged about 16". This is what Chris from LG says about the wadcutter: "A wadcutter, on the other hand, because of the flat front and hard right angle, does to soft tissue kind of what it does to paper — it punches a sharp hole that’s a lot more disruptive than a round nose. Even though the wadcutter doesn’t actually expand, it tends to penetrate soft tissue very reliably. Penetration is really the most important thing we want to see in a good self-defense round, so when you combine that with light recoil, a .38 special wadcutter is actually a pretty formidable self-defense round". So if you are looking for a low-recoil load this may be for you.
