I got 2 of these for cowboy action shooting. I'm quite pleased with them.

The Cattleman I received is well built to tight tolerances. The cylinder to barrel gap is a tight .004; the cylinder end play is almost negligible. Lock-up of the cylinder is good when the pistol is cocked with almost zero lateral movement. The trigger pull runs about 3.5 pounds and is very smooth. The color case hardening is good as is the bluing. The plain walnut grips did not have any defects. Mine has the new safety system which works well and is not even noticeable. There are NOT the 4 audible clicks COLT lover like when cocking the hammer if that is important to you; it is not to me. Everything about the pistol says close tolerance manufacturing. The pistol feels sold in the hand, much better than I expected from an Italian repro. I would normally buy a Ruger Single Action but they are not available now in 44-40 and Colts are out of sight pricewise. I intend to work this pistol hard with black powder and smokeless loads. There were 2 or 3 loose screws but they tightened easily. I really don't have anything bad to report on the pistol. The resale value is probably not the greatest but the pistol is a steal new anyway. I think Uberti has tightened up what was decent quality even more since they came under the Beretta banner. The pistol came totally covered in packing oil and in a plastic bag inside the box. I wish the new safety models were readily available in 32-20 and 38-40.

Great gun. Tho due to my own fault lost a screw first time out. Order new one at 4 dollars. And back in the gun. I should have checked tightness of the screws. I am very happy to have them loose from mfg rather then so tight they won't come out ever! Very good gun!! Shoots wonderfully and is very accurate. I will do business with buds gun shop again! Great prices keep it up guys.
