A factory midlength from Colt, that's a no-brainer

Great rifle, top quality. I would recommend this rifle to anyone looking for a self-defense firearm or for use in competition.

This is a good, no frills AR that is ready to be outfitted with your personalized accessories. Fit and finish is pretty slick. Stock adjusts positively and doesn't wiggle. The trigger is slightly above average. The ambidextrous safety is a nice touch. No long-term endurance tests or anything, but with the limited shooting I've done the gun works and runs well. Personally, I wasn't prepared for the gas block being so close to my hand under the low-profile handguard. It's kinda toasty, even with gloves. I have a set of grip panels on order.

Very nice carbine but for the price it should have come with front and rear sights.

Excellent experience. Prompt service. Still adding my sights and other accoutrements, so I haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet. Can’t wait.

Initial Impressions Positive - Overall weight is lighter than expected - Rail provides an excellent amount of surface area while remaining exceptionally light weight - Grip angle feels more natural than standard A2 - Fit between stock and buffer tube is tight and does not rattle Negative - Magazine release improperly installed, requiring one more revolution - With the bolt locked to the rear, the ambidextrous safety selector sticks halfway between fire and safe. Considering swapping out for standard selector - STANAG aluminum magazines drop free, PMAGS do not and require manual removal from magazine well Conclusion Negatives are not deal breakers. Issues with safety selector and PMAG fit might clear up with use.

I was unable to find this Colt LE6960-CCU locally, and many gun shops had not even heard of it, as it is Colt's first mid-length gas system carbine which they released mid-2016. But Bud's had it, and at a good price, so I used their web site to locate one of their preferred FFLs and contacted them to confirm they knew what to expect. Checkout was seamless, and the rifle arrived at my local FFL about a week later. Transfer was quick and painless, and the gun arrived as expected from Colt. Bud's handling of the transaction was superb. Upon close inspection of the rifle, I noticed that the takedown pin had not been machined to the correct diameter its entire length and would not seat fully into the receiver, and from the marks in the oil on the pin, it appeared it never had since assembly at the factory. I emailed Buds to let them know, and also contacted Colt directly. Colt responded and dropped me a new pin in the mail the next day. Bud's also responded quickly, and had already called Colt (who informed them they were already on it). Pin received and installed. As far as build quality, this is my first AR-15, but I did much research prior to selecting the 6960, which had every feature that I was looking for: flat top receiver, 13in M-LOK rail (from Centurion Arms) with pic at 12:00, and M-LOK at 3, 6, and 9, mid-length gas system, 16.1" 1/7 5.56MM NATO CMV Chrome-lined MP barrel, ambi-safety, Magpul MOE SL Buttstock and Pistol Grip. It comes with no sights, and the gas key and castle nut were properly staked. All things I knew before ordering. The gun came well greased, so I removed the rail (which was extremely easy) and cleaned and inspected the gun before heading to the range. I did notice that the rail screws were not torqued as they should (in fact they were quite loose). I contacted Centurion Arms to inquire about installation instructions about the part before removing it, and they sent me a detailed PDF of instructions with pictures and torque specs. Colt's manual looked to be circa 1960's, even though the copyright was 2009. The detailed instructions about the FSB sights and carry handle rear sights were irrelevant to the CCU. I guess Colt's principle customer has little use for manuals. ;-) I put 50 rds through it at the range without issue. So far, the purchase has met all of my expectations, both with Bud's and with the product. I would buy again, and would recommend both Bud's and the Colt CCU to anybody looking for a quality AR-15.

I'd gotten rid of the last of my ARs and decided I needed one in the collection again. As much as I have liked my LE6920's in the past I wanted to go with something a little different this time. The mid length gas system sounded interesting so I decided to give the 6960 a try. When it arrived it was about what I expected. Everything looked good and a quick function check showed everything in working order. I've only had it out to shoot once but it worked flawlessly. The longer gas system might feel a little different but not much. Good ammo, cheap ammo, and these reloads I buy at the shop all fed and cycled just fine. I'm not 100% sold on the handguard. I do like the length but it feels very slim. Maybe adding some of the magpul shield things and a foregrip will help that. There's plenty of room to attach whatever I want.

Outstanding rifle. As expected, perfect reliability through the first 300 rounds. This barrel profile splits the difference between lightweight and government profiles making for exceptional handling. Beware though, the hand guard as shipped will get very hot, so invest in some rail covers if you plan on running it like it's made to.

Purchased this weapon at a very fair price. The transaction was handled professionally throughout. The Colt was delivered in perfect condition with all related accessories. This carbine is extremely accurate. The trigger is your typical mil spec stage 1, gritty throughout the pull. I'm rating the weapon very good as the bad trigger was expected. Fit and finish are very good.

As always, dealing with Buds is a pleasure! Onto the rifle, It's a genuine Colt with all the proper C markings. This is essentially a 6920 with a mid-length gas system. The Centurion M-lok rail is nice and thin. The barrel is also properly marked and light profile but not quite pencil barrel. The rifle with MBUS pro's weighed 6.4 lbs. Looking to put a Steiner 1-4 as my choice optic and may get an MRO too. My 6920 has never failed me... my Colt M-16 when I was in combat never failed me and I'm sure this 6960 won't fail me either.

Excellent fit and finish, lightweight and ready to go with your choice of optics. I chose Magpul Pro iron sights to start. Don't hesitate, this is an excellent rifle.
