Having owned or sampled several different SIG models over the years, when the polymer frame SP2022 series appeared, I saw it as so many did, and do...a "poor person's SIG" because it sells for less than half of the classic, alloy frame versions. So, instead of snapping one up on day one I waited a few years until that price finally lured me into "pulling the trigger" as it were. Am I glad I finally broke through my own bias towards this gem! I own a P228 which is without any doubt the best handling of the SIG line due to it's stamped sheet slide, alloy frame and short snout. The SP2022 is basically the same pistol with a polymer frame using the "E2" grip profile! The slide is machined, yet still light enough to bring in the .40 caliber version at 29 ounces and with a lot better balance than my SIG P229 357Sig! All the things I thought I would not like about the SP2022 I like. I like the long slide lock/slide pin...it pushes out easily and pops back in just as easily. The gun has SIG's classic DA/SA pull with hammer dropping thumb lever that operates smoothly and solidly. Overall fit and finish is typically SIG...outstanding! All controls are crisp and solid. The gun comes with two polymer grips for different size hands. It also comes with a polymer, paddle style holster, and two magazines, all in a nice, plastic case! For the money - less than the price of a Glock, this is an outstanding value! From an ergonomic standpoint, the SP2022 is hands down superior to the Glock, and I'd say slightly better than the S&W M&P. I like the DA with hammer down carry option over carrying a chambered Glock. I chose the .40 because it does have a significant advantage over the 9mm with all comparable loads, and since we in California can only have 10 round mags, well, 10 rounds of .40 beats 10 rounds of 9mm. Plus, .40 S&W ammo is quite inexpensive and easily reloaded. Having said all that, now I want another SP2022 in 9mm just because I see what a really nice-looking, well-built model this is and either caliber is competent for any expected purpose. The SP2022 is an outstanding value...a definite "buy"!

This was my second purchase from Bud's and I really appreciate their commitment to customer service. Both transactions were smooth and effortless. Will continue to due business with Buds. Now for the SigPro review. I have nothing but good things to say about this gun. It feels right, looks right, and more importantly shoots right straight out of the box. I've put 300 rounds of reloads through it and not so much a hiccup. It has a good balance in the hand. I had a smaller framed first time shooter fire it, and he actually preferred my SigPro over the lighter 9MM pistol. Muzzle flip is very controllable and helps bring you back on line for follow up shots. The DA trigger pull is a bit long and stiff, but manageable and I got used to it quickly. I'm not too impressed with the contrast sights, but I can change that easily enough. The main take-away's are accurate, reliability and ease of maintenance. All important when your life depends on it. All things considered, this under appreciated gun deserves a buy.
