To be 100% honest I'm not impressed with the craftsmanship of this shot gun! Edges are sharp, very rough finish and when we first took it out and shot trap the firing pin was short falling thus not hitting the shell completely causing it to not to fire. I still like the shotgun very light and compact but just disappointed in the quality

Great looking gun and impressively put together. Didn't take long for the action become smooth and easy. As lightweight as it is you do feel some recoil. It's delicate, you can't bang it around and expect it to hold up, but it will be fine for no more than it will be used. I like the fact that it came with more than three chokes.

I've used this shotgun several times now, and I only wish I had bought the 12 ga version. Not sure if it needs further breaking in, but when you open it load shells, it tends to move towards closing a tad and I have to hold the barrels open to load. The number of chokes that come with it are good, you get 5 of them and a tool. The selector switch is also good and has not failed. Over all, the gun is ok for a beginner like me, but again, the 12 would of been better .

Bought this for training my bird dog. Exactly what I wanted. Cheap, neutral cast, and functional. For the price could not be happier. Bud’s of course delivers quickly as expected.

I have purchased other guns from Bud's and every time everything has gone very well. This time I wanted an over under to start to learn to shoot trap after looking at all the reviews I decided on the Stevens 555 20 gauge. I received the gun in exultant condition I finally had time to go and try it and it works great. I can't wait till I have more time to go back to the range and shoot some more.

Perfect entry-level over/under for clay shooting. Finish looks great, solid construction, well-balanced, although the action is stiff out of the box. Very satisfied with the purchase and the process. Bud's did great, again.

My first O/U and did want to spend a lot. However, I am impressed with the quality, balance and weight of this model. My first time out at the sheet range was better than expected since it has been over 40 years since I last shot. Went through 75 rounds with no issues. Buds was a great place to purchase, all aspects of the process were clear and efficient. I would purchase this model again and from Buds.

Light, functions perfectly so far (maybe 100 rounds). Did have some slight damage to wood from excessive lube when it arrived, which I unfortunately did not notice until I got home with it (was really looking more at the metal parts for rust and fit). The lube sort of ate off some of the wood finish, so now there is a blemish near the action on one side and at a few spots on the other. Minor really but a bummer.

I really like this shotgun. I just finished firing the first 50 shells through it and I am impressed. It is well balanced, mounts quickly, fit and finish is impeccable, and the gun is very light. I purchased this gun for one reason: heater hunting in the North Maine woods (driving around in your truck until you see ruffed grouse or good cover, get out, load shotgun, and walk towards fresh meat). Last year I heater hunted with a pump shotgun and upon cycling the action, spooked many a bird. So, since then, I’ve been researching O/U shotguns and settled on the Stevens 555. Glad I did. For what I paid ($479), this gun can’t be beat. It was really stiff upon initial assembly, but I spread some Pro-Gold Lubricant on the moving parts and after a few shells there was a noticeable difference. It comes with five chokes and halfway through shooting it today, I changed the #5 choke out for the #3 in the over barrel. Unlike what someone else wrote in the reviews of this gun, the choke fully seated and did not stick out past the barrel. Now, time for disassembly and cleaning, but my initial reaction to this shotgun is two thumbs up.

i am so pleased with this shotgun. the wood is beautiful and the fit is terrific. the wood to metal is almost flawless. the biggest surprise is the weight and balance of this gun. i would classify it as a featherweight. the balance is comparable to much more expensive and "famous" brand name guns i have looked at. i bought the 20 ga and for the gun being so lightweight the recoil was almost non-existent!! now the frosting on the cake was the absouletly positive experience i had dealing with buds gun shop. this was my first on-line purchase of this type and it was flawless and fast. the order process was very simple to understand and they helped me find an ffl dealer right in my hometown. i definitely will be doing future business with buds gun shop in the future. it will be my first go to place to shop for my next gun purchase. they beat hands down everyone else on price and convienence. thank you bud for a most positive experience.

Lever to open action very stiff. Choke tubes screw too far into barrel, couple barrel threads visible. Gun handles and points well. Recoil in 20g a not noticeable.

I was very surprised at the quality of the fit and finish on the firearm, it was excellent for a firearm in this price range.. The checkering in the stock was also excellent - very clean & crisp. The gun mounts and points very nicely.

I recently purchased the Stevens 555 20 ga/26 inch shotgun, I have several Benelli and Beretta shotguns, but wanted a (Plain Jane) light inexpensive O/U shotgun that I could take to my Gun Club for Upland Bird Hunting. My particular preference (exclusively a Upland Bird Hunter) when choosing a Shotgun is a light, well balanced and quick shouldering 20 ga. I've run approximately 100 rounds through the gun with no miss-fires or problems, the gun shoulders nicely and is easy to handle. Despite the fact that the gun weighs 5.5 lbs the kick back is minimal and is a pleasure to carry and shoot. While the Stevens 555 20 ga./26 inch may not be for everyone (it is better suited for a smaller framed person), I find the one I purchased to be a good well built and solid O/U Shotgun.
