Buds Guns very easy to do business with. Great midsize 9mm for easy carry. Light enough not to weigh you down and with the rising cost of food (ammo)for weapons, still relatively inexpensive to shoot on range day.

I'm sure this surprises no one, but this is an excellent single stack polymer 9mm. I've had zero reliability issues, it's quite concealable in a iwb holster, and it's popularity makes it easy to find accessories(like holsters and lasers.) If you are looking for small slim polymer frame striker fired 9mm you should definitely consider one of the Shield series, although if you want a pocket 9, this might be a bumping into the size for pocket carry, depending on your pockets. For me this is ideal for carry in a belt holster, occasionally in a pocket holster in a jacket pocket, and rarely in a pants or shorts pocket.

The Smith and Wesson M&P Shield is a great backup gun. It's ultra concealable, very thin profile, and short slide/barrel. With a single stack mag and 3.1" bbl, I would only look at this for backup, last ditch, or ultra CC measures. The short barrel makes it very snappy, and the smaller grip doesn't give much to grab. This model was purchased a in 2016-ish, and is not a part of the current recall. It's a basic sub-compact gun with 7 1 or 8 1 mag. I've only put a few hundred rounds through it, and there were no failures. It's accuracy is decent, but only from about 15 yards and in.

Purchased in about 2016/17 timeframe. Trigger was heavy and it took effort to get two rounds to hit in the same general area from 5-7 yard line and more difficult to hit 3 in the same area. I tried to sell on Gunbroker but no buyers. This was before the current gun buying hysteria. I took to a local gunsmith, who worked on the trigger. It shoots accurately now. The smith told me that he gauged the trigger at 16 pounds before he did the work. If I had known it was that heavy, I would have sent it back to S&W for warranty work. Gave it 4 stars because it now shoots accurately.

Wanted a small 9-mm for concealed carry. This fit the bill nicely. Have fired approx 250-rounds through it. Functions fine, no failures to feed or eject. And, it is point-of-aim / point-of-impact!

I picked this pistol up from Bud's years ago because they had a good price at the time. Over all experience with Buds was has been positive. I would, and have, purchased from them again. I am totally satisfied with this pistol. I bought it because of it's smaller size and especially the narrow width which makes AIWB carry very comfortable and easy for me and my frame size. Medium build, with a 32" waist. I use a Blackdog Concealment AIWB holster and find this to be a comfortable setup. This pistol is very accurate, absolutely reliable with all the ammo I've used, and has held up extremely well--the finish on this thing is amazing. I am considering having the slide machined on this pistol so I can mount a Sig ZeroElite, or similar, micro red dot. I see no need to replace this weapon as it checks on the boxes on my CCW list. MK

Awesome gun for the last 18 months or so. Bought this for my wife to get her shooting more. She has smaller hands and didn't really care for my double stack Glocks, so I picked this up hoping it would change things. She loves shooting it. Always wants to take "her gun" when we go to the range. Fits her hands perfect and she gets better with it every time we're out. I don't mind shooting it either. Smooth shooting gun, trigger pull is good and has proven reliable since we've owned it.

I've tested compact single-stack 9mm handguns rather extensively, and I just don't think you can do better than a Shield. This gun has all the features you really need, at a price point that would allow you to buy two of them and keep one for back-up, as I did. I found it much softer shooting and easier to control than a Glock 43, with a 2 round magazine capacity advantage when talking about factory components. It has better sights, right out of the box, and is cheaper to boot. Against the Springfield XDS, I found it about the same size, slightly more accurate, and a lot cheaper, as well as being American made. Compared to the Walther PPS LE Model, I'll have to call that one a draw. Both were equally great. You do have three magazine choices on the PPS and only two with the Shield. And compared to the Kahr CW9, the Shield wins on price when you factor in that the Kahr only comes with one magazine. The Smith also seems to be built a bit tougher and doesn't have a break-in period measured in dog years, not to mention that dealing with Kahr Customer Service is like having your teeth drilled, while Smith and Wesson is as easy as it gets. Bottom line is, I'd buy this gun again, and I have.

This is the second Shield that I have own ( I also own a ported 40 S&W from the custom shop)and I must admit I am partial to M&Ps. The workmanship is excellent, take down and cleaning are exceptionally easy, and for short barreled gun, it shoots quite well at the distances one would expect to encounter in a personal defense situation. It's size makes it perfect for concealed carry. The trigger is OK, but I have replaced the triggers in both of my Shields with Apex duty-carry trigger kits, but that is my personal preference.

I purchased this M&P Shield for me. Just like a Taurus 605, I gave a Shield to one of my daughter's. Price was right and shipping to my FFL was fast! Love Buds!
