Still in the 500 round break-in period that Dan Wesson recommends but after almost 300 rounds I have not experience one single issue. Nice trigger and quite accurate!

Beautiful gun. Machined well to very low tolerances. Tight and smooth. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but the reputation speaks for itself. Buds is excellent! They ship fast, have very reasonable prices if you shop around, you'll see. They are professional and their customer service is top notch! I recommend Buds, especially for those of us in California. They have many CA compliant guns that I could not find local, and if I did, their pricing, even with shipping was the lowest. Great job guys!

I recently purchased this Dan wesson. Fantastic 1911. I have 3 Dan Wessons. Its basically a custonm pistol for much less. I love my TRP. but, not quite the quality of the DW

I have mixed thoughts about this handgun.
The good news; it is a reliable full size 1911 with top quality parts and a decent build quality. It is also on the CA approved list which is important for me being in California. I really like the sights on it and the over all effect and handling of the gun are excellent if you connect with 1911's. The fit and finish is good, but not super tight, it can easily be disassembled by hand. I was especially impressed that it has had flawless reliability right out of the box with a wide variety of ammunition and a mix of magazines. In many cases 1911's, especially tightly fitted ones, need to break in a few hundred rounds before they want to run with some ammo and can be picky about magazines, this one works well with everything.
On the other hand it is a target handgun that is not especially accurate, it is not bad either and is very consistent to group every type of ammunition I have tried to the same point of aim and average grouping. Groups are running 3-4" at 25 yards, not terrible but I have single action revolvers and a Glock 21 which group the same or better for less than half the money. There were also a couple of very minor build quality issues. The first is that the grip screw bushings were not tightened into the frame so when I went to remove the grips the grip screw bushings came out. The other is that the thumb safety is fitted a little bit weird, it seems to lock the hammer completely when engaged while all my other 1911's, and how Colt instructed us to fit them in armorer class, have felt overtravel in the hammer when the safety is engaged. A couple passes with a file would clean up the safety and a drop of locktite set the grip screw bushings so not big issues but little details.
My conclusion, if you are in California and looking for a gun of this type I think that this is a good option. If you are in free states where you have other options there are probably better choices out there.

What an awesome gun. The workmanship is absolutely incredible. Tight tolerances and smooth as butter. The trigger is phenomenal smooth and crust with no hint of creep. This is my favorite toy for sure, and budsgunshop price was right on. Highly recommend to anyone. Great job Dan Wesson!!

PM7-45...Awesome fit & finish. Very tight and shoots like a dream. Do your research...PM7-45 differs from PM-45. PM-45 has front strap checkering, Clark style rib on top and fiber optic front sight.....PM7-45 DOES NOT...

This is a quality built 1911, five stars. So far, I shot 75 rounds of various ammo, from target loads up to +P and did not have a single malfunction. The fit and finish is great. Contrary to the "ask the community" answers, this California model does not have front strap checkering. This note is on the Dan Wesson website - *** SKU 01900, the PM-7 in .45, differs from the rest of the Pointman series in that it lacks the Clark-style rib, fiber optic front sight and front-strap checkering. ***

Excellent handgun. Had $40 price reduction two weeks after purchase. Followed Buy Safe instructions and was told I would receive money in three weeks. Came in mail in two weeks. Great prices. Great service and great guarantee. Buy with confidence.

Just picked up my Dan Wesson last week. First things on the initial appearance and feel. It's nice and weighty, but very balanced in your hand. Its finish is beautiful and smooth, and the cocobolo grips compliment the overall look nicely. I tried working the slide, its smooth and crisp I was expecting it to be more of a labor. I shot 100 rounds the next day, I had one mild failure to lock which was resolved by pulling the slide back partially and letting it go once more. Other than that, I've never had so much fun shooting. That .45 has a nice kick, but is controllable and the match barrel and hand-checked parts make this pistol almost scary accurate in the right hands. I had people all around the shop and range taking a look at the new DW (We don't have many in California and this is one of the only models on the Handgun Roster) Overall, fantastic feel, look absolutely amazing and in general a fantastic trophy gun.

When I got my Dan Wesson Pointman 7, I was very excited about the fit and finish all around. It looks great, feels great in the hand and I can't wait to break it in. The only thing I was disappointed in was that the front strap is not checkered at all contrary to the advertisement. Oh well, ya can't win them all.

Outstanding in every category! I purchased my PM7 from Bud's nearly a year ago. First off, Bud's was great to deal with, I will definitely use their site in the future. As for the PM7, I have run UMC and Wolf through this without one single failure, only 500+ rounds, but no failures during the break in period?? I purchased the '08 model and the mags that came with it were used right along side two Wilson D47's, no failures to speak of at all, seems the newer stock mags are fine. I did entirely disassemble and lube the PM7 with FP-10 and then hand cycled it about 100 times before taking it to the range. I really can't say enough good things about this purchase overall, I would highly recommend the PM7.

Fine quality 1911 pistol. This is not my first, in fact I own 25 other 1911 pistols that are mostly Colts but with a Kimber, an RIA, two Les Baer, and an Olympia Arms. Thr Dan Wesson has a feel like my Les Baer guns - tight and smooth. Accurate, with great work throughout. I don't know how they're doing it but these guys aare turning out the best value in a 1911 pistol available. VERY nice!

This one started off with a few issues...slide would not stay locked open after last round and the barrel was marred from the recoil spring guide. A few emails to the Dan Wesson and she was brought back to life and 2k rounds later has been flawless ever since. Customer service backed their product and did not hesitate to resolve any factory faults, albeit I ate the shipping $. The factory mags were garbage so I ended up using some Wilson Combats that seem to work well with this pistol. Overall it's a shooter once the kinks were ironed out.

Best value for a quality 1911 on the market. When I got my pointman7 I was concerned about feading reliabilty becuse it was such a tight gun. Many of my most relaable weapons have a bit of play to them (e.g. Glocks and Paras). This gun is not only very well finished, but its a tight as a bank vault. To date I have ~200 rounds of swc though with zero failues of any kind. Acuracy is about what you would expect from such a tight, well finished gun. Off-hand 5 shot groups of 1 inch at 15 yards almost effortlessly. From a rest the gun may vary well shoot tigher groups yet. As it happened, on my first trip to the range with my DW I ended up shooting next to someone with a Wilson combat 1911. Except for a more beveled mag well, and a slight edge in appearance, my $1000 DW was the equal to my neighbors $3000 Wilson.

Having looked at Kimber, Springfield, Colt, and Para 1911-type pistols, I finally decided my first 1911 would be the Pointman 7 from Bud's. My friend, a longtime shooter who had bragged for years about his Springfield, picked up the DW, pulled the trigger, and started to drool. He couldn't believe the tightness of the gun, the clean trigger, the balance, the beauty of the fit and finish. When I told what I'd paid for the PM7, his jaw nearly hit the floor -- He couldn't believe that one could buy such a high-quality, well-made gun for such a low price! The Pointman 7 by Dan Wesson is easily the best value, if not simply the best 1911, on the market today. High-quality parts and obvious care in the construction and finish make this one of the best out there, anywhere! In short, this is the most beautiful, accurate, and reliable gun I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of guns! You cannot go wrong with the PM7. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great pistol at an amazing price!

This is my first 1911, but have recently handled and fired a few. This Dan Wesson's fit and finish is outstanding. Feels wonderful in the hand, no rattles, and shoots wonderfully. Whomever assembled this piece payed close attention to detail, because it is a work of art.

If you ever want to shoot an outstanding 45, this is the one. I have shot over 1000 round through it and the action is as smooth now as it was on day one. In short, Kimber may have the name, but the Pointman 7 has the talent. I will be getting another one for competition.

This is my first 1911, however, I have been extemely impressed with the feel and quality of this pistol. It has feed everything I've shot. Over 1K rounds already. Most importantly, however, this gun is soooo acurate. It makes me feel like I'm a good shooter. My buddies were blown away at how tight this gun is and how well it shot. I would highly recomend for anyone. Bud's had the best price, anywhere!

Best 45 on the market, I looked at Kimber, Springfield, and Sig. None of them have even come close to the quality of workmanship on my DW, even the ridiculously overpriced Kimber Warrior. For accuracy, its the best pistol I have ever shot. Also shoots my reloads of all shapes and sizes. Don't consider any other than a DW if you want a good accurate 1911.
